I have to say I absolutely LOVE the artwork that Shout uses on their genre films. Halloween 3, They Live, Prison, The Howling, The Funhouse, all have the look and feel of something from that era. Today all the other major studios use that godawful, awkward computerized photoshop - all of which belongs in the atrocious DVD coverart thread.

I wonder whether the studio pre-release (?) cuts have been restored. From Rewind:
...there are slight differences between the US and UK versions of the final scene, in which
SpoilerShow
the motorcycle cop (played by Robert Blake) is gunned down by the bearded man in the VW camper van. The UK version has approx 17 additional frames of footage between the shot of the shotgun blast shattering Blake's motorcycle windscreen, and the rear shot behind Blake of the exit wound. The 17 frames are of an additional angle of the shotgun blast's exit wound filmed from the side in close up. The US version jumps from the shattering of the windscreen to the rear exit wound shot, without the close up of the effect of the shotgun blast to Blake's chest.
The US edits are thought to be pre-release cuts by the studio to secure a “PG” rating. In the UK, the movie was classified first as “X”, later reclassified as “18”, and then "15".

Cliff was asked on either his facebook page or the blu-ray forums and he said Electra Glide in Blue will be the US theatrical cut.

***EXCLUSIVE ANNOUNCEMENT! "SWAMP THING" RISES AT SCREAM FACTORY!***

Surprise! Wes Craven's 1982 Cult Comic Book Classic SWAMP THING (starring horror fan favorite Adrienne Barbeau) will be arriving this summer on Blu-ray for the first time!

As always, we are planning to provide as many bells and whistles as we can on this release, but we felt it was important to tell you early on that we will only be able to present the 91 minute U.S. cut of the film (the same version MGM has released on DVD since '05) and not the 93 minute "unrated" international version as we had originally hoped for. This is due to legal issues that are out of our control and we hope you understand.

Stay tuned for more specific details – including exact street date - that will be revealed in the next 2-3 months!

Cliff has said that the Rolling Thunder Blu-ray will feature "New interviews with William Devane, Tommy Lee Jones, Paul Schrader and Heywood Gould."

Scream has been giving hints for a box set to be released around Halloween and it seemsthat it might be the Amityville trilogy

Kinda surprised that MGM would license out The Producers, but I'll gladly take it!

If it's any help, Vols 20 & 24 are the two sets available in the PRC (Pirate Republic of China) ...

More July Blu-rays:

7/9

Cohen and Tate (1988)

7/16

Battle Creek Brawl (aka The Big Brawl) (1980) / City Hunter (Sing si lip yan) (1993) - Double Feature
Heavy Traffic (1973)

7/23

The Fog (1980)

7/30

Knightriders (1981)

With the MGM vaults seemingly open, I'm pulling for Cops and Robbers (1973), which never got a proper widescreen DVD release.

Unfortunately, only The Time Guardian will be widescreen

Wow. I know Shout was working on COONSKIN for a time, and that fell apart at the last minute, so HEAVY TRAFFIC
is a very nice consolation. I wonder if COHEN & TATE will include the cut footage from that film that popped up on Youtube.

Aw, man. No blu rays for the Ringo movies? Not even for Take a Hard Ride, which had an HD transfer playing on MGM's HD channel a few years back?

Great that these are coming out, but it's still a bit disappointing.

A four Blu-ray set retailing for $20? That can't be right.

And yet The Nest is on a single Blu-ray for $27? Will these be cut-rate transfers in some way, I wonder (if only because they'll be sharing a disc)?
