We're giving away a copy of A FILM UNFINISHED to Criterion Forum readers here, and just so everyone knows, the disc also contains Billy Wilder's rarely seen propaganda film "DEATH MILLS."

Did you get to rub elbows with Chris Messina? How cute and scruffy is he 'in real life,' as it were?

THE UNLOVED
Directed by Samantha Morton

On DVD May 24th, 2011

"Riveting... You can't look away."
- Telegraph

"A bold, emotionally piercing personal statement."
- Time Out London

Two-time Academy Award nominee Samantha Morton's directorial debut THE UNLOVED is a powerful and personal look at the strength and resilience of youth. Morton tells the story of eleven-year-old Lucy (newcomer Molly Windsor) seeking refuge as a ward of the state from her abusive father (Robert Carlyle). Placed in a tumultuous foster home, Lucy befriends her rebellious teenage roommate Lauren (Lauren Socha), and together they navigate the cold and uncaring world before them.

With a screenplay by Tony Grisoni (FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS) based on original material by Samantha Morton, THE UNLOVED captures the subtle magic and melancholy of childhood while painting an honest portrait of a girl torn between a broken family and an inept social system.

Oscilloscope Laboratories presents

THE PARANOIDS
Directed by Gabriel Medina

Image

Gabriel Medina's wonderfully crafted debut feature is a fresh, visually innovative, and often hilarious glimpse into the lives of some very offbeat, yet human, characters.

Thirty-something Luciano Gauna is odd. A failing screenwriter in Buenos Aires, Luciano lives in an almost intense state of paranoia, afraid of everything from STDs to even his doorman. When his childhood friend Manuel, a very successful TV producer, returns from Madrid with his stunning new girlfriend Sofia, his world is thrown into a near desperate funk. He discovers that Manuel has unflatteringly modeled him as the lead character on a successful Spanish TV show called THE PARANOIDS, which Manuel is now bringing to Argentina.
When Manuel leaves on a business trip to Chile, Lucian's remaining grip on reality unravels when he's left alone with Sofia and her alluring charm.

SPECIAL FEATURES

- Music video for "Nada de Nada" by Farmacia
- The Paranoids complete soundtrack (MP3s)
- Theatrical trailer

On DVD April 12th, 2011

"Offbeat, inventive, and enchanting." - Green Cine Daily

"It's surprisingly tense, more than a little silly, and filmed with a Fincher-esque OCD precision - everything a comedy about a twenty-something's bruised ego should be." - L Magazine

Purchase the DVD from Oscilloscope Laboratories.

Also available at most major retailers.

Oof, this Le Tigre "documentary" is obnoxious beyond belief. I lost track of Hanna's work post-Bikini Kill (which I generally liked), admittedly, but this film isn't really interested in showing anything that couldn't be gleaned from short "for the fans" on the road YouTube vids. This one really is for the Le Tigre obsessed only, as there's just no way in for anyone else who hasn't already bought into their self-congratulatory approach. I still love you Oscilloscope, but this is our first fight

Not sure what to think of the new artwork. I kind of like it but the original poster artwork was better.

I'm disappointed. I loved that poster, and just took for granted that it would remain as the eventual dvd/blu cover art. This new artwork is all too traditional.

Yeah, that's a damn shame. This is okay, but the poster was great, and Oscilloscope teased us by previously sending this artwork to retailers and journalists.

OOF. That is a huge disappointment. I hope there's still time to change it back and that someone at O-Scope comes to their senses.

Maybe they figure they'll shift a few more units with Michelle Williams in photographed form. Either that, or someone there is just a fan of the Paul Dano face.

So they've retitled the movie to Meek's Cutoff: Michelle Williams? That doesn't make sense.
