"Barbarosa" (1982) is coming to Blu-ray
Nice, as I rewatched director Fred Schepisi's "Mr. Baseball" not too long ago, and was interested in seeing this one after reading about it.

Re: Scorpion Releasing
The long-rumored Scorpion release of Bogdanovich's Saint Jack is up for pre-order at Amazon, though it's DVD only. I asked Scorpion on Facebook what happened to the blu-ray release, and their response was, "can't comment at this time." Interesting. Hopefully someone puts out this film on blu-ray! It's Bogdanovich's only 70s film that I thought was less than very good, which has made me all the more eager to revisit it.
At least the DVD is cheaply priced and looks to be a new transfer from the original camera negative. Otherwise, I think the special features replicate what was on the previous release.

The original DVD release was 4x3 letter boxed so this will be a big improvement.

Re: Scorpion Releasing
It's likely to be the same deal as the The Wild Eye, Nashville Girl etc., right?

Re: Scorpion Releasing
From their Facebook page...Just signed two crime films/neo-noirs from the early 90's. One stars two Oscar winners and that guy who is in all the QT films, its sort of a quirky road crime film. Other was voted one of the best of the year by Ebert and is a masterpiece in my opinion. The current UK blu is seriously lacking, so I am hoping to do a brand new 2k scan. Hopefully these two will click unlike everything else non genre I released so far. And nope, they are not horror films, they are crime dramas
The second title has to be The Last Seduction, right?

Re: Scorpion Releasing
Kiss Of Death remake for the first one? Cast includes Samuel L Jackson and two Oscar winners in Nic Cage and Helen Hunt, so seems to fit.

Kiss of Death remake is Fox, I don't think they have a distro deal with them. It's also not a road picture

Re: Scorpion Releasing
I think the first clue might be for Deceiver, which is MGM and the QT guy is Michael Parks

Re: Scorpion Releasing
The "guy who is in all the QT films" could be Tarantino himself. Somebody to Love is a quirky crime picture, although it only stars one Oscar-winner (Anthony Quinn), unless you count Tarantino there too, and a bunch of nominees (Rosie Perez, Stanley Tucci, Harvey Keitel).

I was thinking of the Dennis Hopper film with Jodie Foster and a bunch of other people; it had a couple of different titles depending on who put it out, but I remember it as Back Track. Can't think of who the Tarantino reference is for, though.

Re: Scorpion Releasing
Also, the Ebert pick could be Carl Franklin's One False Move. That was also a neo-noir from the '90s that ended up on Ebert's best-of list.
EDIT: Actually, disregard this one. I didn't see the qualifier about the UK blu-ray release.

Re: Scorpion Releasing
Another possibility for the first movie is The Getaway (1994), with Oscar-winners Kim Basinger and Philip Seymour Hoffman, and QT guy Michael Madsen.

Scorpion posted this on facebook. So it looks like they are the ones that picked up the US rights to Two Evil Eyes.
