Any chance the deal would include Hitchcock silents so we could get a box-set?

The list doesn't mention British International Pictures, which produced the Hitchcock silents, though the piece only says "including", so it may not be complete. I completely agree that it would be very handy indeed for all nine silents to end up under one roof.

Those sets look terrific. In my limited experience, the lesser known Ealings are often lesser known simply because they don't fit the established mould of 'the Ealing Comedy', not because they're mediocre or flawed in any way.

The Ealing sets are part of The British Film Collection - Network have announced the April to June titles already, including a couple of Blus.

Over at the Blu-ray.com forum poster BigNickUK pointed out that Network's online store http://networkonair.com/ currently has a sale on with 40% off all items. It ends next Thursday.

I picked up The Lodger, This Happy Breed and The Prisoner : The Complete Series Blus and was really tempted by the David Leland Tales out of School set, but had kind of run out of money by then!

If I'm reading this right, overseas shipping is 40 pounds!

Well, thats not entirely true. I freaked out when I saw that too, but then I went to place an order, and that wasn't the case.

I had two larger items and they only want 7.85 for shipping, which isn't too bad. Two dvds went for 3.85

The only weird thing, if I added anything else to my 7.85 shipping order, then it shot up to 40 pounds! Why wouldn't anybody just place two separate orders then? Just keep track of your shipping costs (it will say in your basket) before you checkout.

Its a tremendous deal either way. Network discounts titles by 50% already, then you get the 40% off sale, and foreigners get VAT removed (17.5%). So it works out to about 75% off MSRP!

It's a similar situation even for UK buyers - postage is free until you order over a certain amount at once, then they charge £3.60. But no charge if you split the order into separate batches (which is more letterbox-friendly too...)

I will preorder VICTIM, there is no reason to wait for a Criterion upgrade (especially when its an Eclipse title). This is really a great film and I am a Dearden fan. I am really excited for this. I will wait for a Criterion upgrade of This Sporting Life. I hope Criterion will not wait too long. Never heard about the 3rd film.

If you want a taste of the gloriously awful Legend of the Lone Ranger (and to find out why the lead, Klinton Spilsbury, never made another film), take a look at this Cinema Snob video!

Network seem to be releasing an eclectic mix of classics, solid entertainments, rarities and loveable turkeys.

Sony's lowering of authoring fees and the existence of so many off-the-shelf HD masters mean that Network can release an under-a-tenner Blu-ray virtually every week from now on. Good times ahead. Second Run take note (please).

I hope they won't be cutting some corners here by not including subtitles. I have only one blu-ray from Network and it (Odd Man Out) has English subtitles.
