As far as I am aware this will be the first Blu release for an Oliveira anywhere in the world so that's notable too. Any idea as to extras yet? I'm assuming that's still being hammered out.

Cinema Guild,

If one wants to purchase from your site, do you ship internationally?

Nothing that we're able to announce yet, but we're looking at some really interesting material.

Do you plan to include the same-titled short with Costa's Ne Change Rien?

Most of the Beaver caps of the Marwencol Blu look rather fab - looking forward to its release (and hoping that Angelica made enough profit theatrically to earn a dual format release).

Haven't you seen? The Angelica BR is already up for pre-order. It comes out August 2nd.

I thought Marwencol was supposed to be an all-region title - according to Beaver, it's region locked to A.

I don't see it up on their site and the Amazon listing is ridiculously expensive.

Yeah, Merwencol has the same 10% off retail so Amazon wouldn't be the way to go for buying CG blus. If the Angelica BR follows the same pricing structure as Merwencol at the Cinema Guild store, it should be around 30% off retail.

We don't have the graphic/text up yet, but it is available for pre-order on our site at 30% off retail, $24.95.

Text and graphics will be up Monday.

We just double-checked with our lab and confirmed that it's Region FREE. DVD Beaver updated their page.

We just wrapped production on the DVD of IN THE CITY OF SYLVIA and have new specs to report.

After much research and inquiry, and in conjunction with director Jose Luis Guerin, his editor and producer, we have confirmed the film was shot in Super 16mm with an aspect ratio of 1.78:1. We have struck a new master from the original source material and our DVD will preserve this aspect ratio. Guerin has seen the transfer and approved it.

We know there has been some debate on this issue (we ourselves initially thought it was 1.66) so let us know if you have any questions.

the other DVDs have been 1.78:1, too, only they've achieved that via stretching out a 1.66:1 image. I sincerely hope, and expect, that yours will be an unstretched 1.78:1.

We can definitely confirm that we worked off a 1.78:1 HD Cam and did not stretch or manipulate the image in any way. We're not sure where that 1.66 came from --- MUBI in fact still lists the film on their site with an aspect ratio of 1.66. But that's definitely not correct. Guerin shot it in 1.78:1. The editor feels the film may have been projected incorrectly by some festivals. We also found clips and trailers online from the film that seemed to be missing information at the edges of the frame (some a little, others a lot).

But to be 100% certain, we had Guerin and the editor inspect our transfer to make sure it was all good. Only when they signed off on it, did we go to press.

We don't have anything planned for GUEST right now. But we would like to bring out more Guerin DVDs.

My vote would be for TRAIN OF SHADOWS as your next Guerin. I'm still not sure if any of the actuality footage is real or not.

DVD Beaver reviews GUY AND MADELINE ON A PARK BENCH ---

"It succeeds on many fronts and is a colossally good mood setter. Depending on your exposure a rush of arthouse and older musical films may flood your brain while viewing - or you may just get-off on the scenario. All good."

DVD comes out tomorrow.
