This is a great package. I'd not watched the feature in a while, and revisiting it this way was quite a treat. This film takes a ton of risks.

A Loaf of Bread is a nice bonus. Some heavy Bresson riffing going on there. Maybe I'm easily impressed, but I think it's quite a feat to use Bresson's style so exactly, and appropriately. These FAMU kids made a lot of interesting work.

"Gorgeous restoration, plus Nemec's first short film, another Lustig adaptation, A Loaf of Bread, interviews with Lustig's daughter Eva Lustigova, and Peter Hames, and top-notch commentary by Michael Brooke."

"The film folds in on itself over and over, a series of recursions that emphasize the compound trauma of one of history’s greatest horrors. In that way, it’s the most accurate Holocaust film I’ve ever seen.[...]
The film looks exceptional, with superb levels of fine detail and image consistency....
why wait? Second Run’s gorgeous, region-free Blu-ray beckons."
