I would think something like The Diving Bell and the Butterfly would be prime Criterion material. I haven't seen it but I remember when it came out no one would shut up about it.

But he could've been in the house for The Grand Budapest Hotel

Diving Bell will be the easiest "skip" in the entirety of the Criterion Collection.

What the world needs is Amalric's own film, the Simenon adaptation, The Blue Room in a decent release. There's also his new bio pic of Barbara .

I liked Diving Bell...didn't really think it warranted such strong reactions. I can think of plenty others that I have and will continue to "skip" over that one (all of those Olympic discs come to mind)

I had an...interesting online conversation about this film with David Ehrenstein some years ago. He wasn't exactly hostile towards me but the hatred he had for the film was cosmic. It'll be an interesting time capsule release if Criterion does put it out.

I sincerely hope so. It was one of the best films of the 90's.

I don’t want to be Captain Obvious, but it’s clearly Jersey Girl, right?

I’m not sure Taxi Driver can look any better but it would make for an incredible choice for their first 4K release.

That’s the version without the commentary track. I wouldn’t read much into it.

This does remind me of a funny story that happened to a friend. A month before The Graduate was announced by Criterion, my friend had sold Criterion a laserdisc copy of that film via eBay. I like to think that the laserdisc commentary on the current Blu-ray was ripped from his laserdisc.
