Maybe they'll do a Tawny Kitaen double feature set of Crystal Heart and The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik-Yak.

Whitesnake girl is Summer with Monika.
Sucks to get clues for the same films twice, but there's no getting around the fact that these are hints for Y Tu Mama Tambien and Being John Malkovich.

Re: Forthcoming Lists Discussion and Random Speculation Vol.
Are the four individual cars the ones from Kings of the Road/The Wrong Move/Alice in the Cities/The American Friend?
Otherwise, I assume they're just repping Weekend.
That probably is a Shallow Grave he's digging, but that's Bud Cort from Harold and Maude doing the digging. Note the distinctive design on the collar and the wide lapels.
Surprised they'd put two clues from the same film at different spots in the picture.

Coney Island beach sounds like Little Fugitive to me.

I see Criterion's using the quasi-iconic Eating Raoul iconography already. Unless they completely drop the ball with supplements, this is going to be the release of the year for me, easy. I wonder who owns the R1 rights to Bartel's Scenes From a Class Struggle in Beverly Hills? It'd make a perfect "second disc" addition, and it's only been released on DVD in Italy (!) and I was saddened to see once I got my copy that it has forced subs.

The oysters certainly seem like Tabu could be hopeful. How many Robert Flahrety films are rumored? Didn't someone suspect there would be a boxset of reissues? Could three oysters be Tabu, Nanook, and another film?
Those lips next to the mime remind me of something but I can't begin to think of what.
Also, I know it's a long shot, but could Coney Island be a Spike Lee film?

Janus also owns Man of Aran and Louisiana Story, but I think that they probably just point to Tabu. Milestone's rights expired at the beginning of 2011.Drucker wrote:The oysters certainly seem like Tabu could be hopeful. How many Robert Flahrety films are rumored? The lips are from Eating Raoul and Coney Island is a reference to Lonesome -- two that we know for sure.Drucker wrote:Those lips next to the mime remind me of something but I can't begin to think of what.

Aren't these pretty much all titles they've at least hinted at before? I'm trying not to get too down about no Koker Trilogy clues.

Trying to think of movies with memorable car-transport trucks in them, only one I can come up with is the superior noir film Tomorrow is Another Day, but Warners already put it out in the Archive

Isn't there only one pearl in Tabu? At least, only one is significant; I don't think it's this.

How about von Sternberg's Morocco for the pearls clue? Or Borzage's Desire? Or Hopper's Malay Nights?

Hmm... I'm still convinced the three pearls are meant to form a necklace equalling Shame.

Would all of the vehicles being directed towards the same point indicate that a crash and, er, Crash are imminent?

That's a shame. It's still destined for an upgrade though. The mime must refer to one of the works of Pierre Etaixellipsis7 wrote:No, I'm afraid not...Calvin wrote:Is the mime from Les enfants du paradis?

Re: Forthcoming Lists Discussion and Random Speculation Vol.
Maybe, but I don't yet see a direct visual match... The fellow is wearing a distinctive style of hat - looks like it is three pointed, making it a 'Tricorne' - should indicate something specific... Starting with Spanish ssoldiers in the 17th Century, it became widely popular in France and further afield in the 18th Century. Renoir's LA MARSEILLAISE thus suggests itself, but cannot yet find an image match...Calvin wrote:That's a shame. It's still destined for an upgrade though. Is there room for Tati's Trafic as an upgrade in all this vehicular stuff. I haven't seen it for years but isn't there a transporter in it?

I'd say so. The weapons resemble something that Musashi used.BillWatkins wrote:Samurai Trilogy?
