"Big" presumably means either some long-clamored for title like Badlands or some big long movie like Shoah. Or both. (Or neither.)

Or an unusually big number of releases. Or a big boxed set. Or the buildup to a big bang followed by a whimper.

The "big[gest] one" would be Out 1, I'm sure. Any recent indications or rumours that Criterion will beat the Germans to the punch?

Oh, wow -- that's probably too literal a reading of the tweet, but it would echo their punny cartoon clues. Glad it'll only be a few minutes/hours before my hopes get dashed....

Didn't they make the same comment last month? "Huge" set of announcements or something? There was nothing earth-shattering there, so I wouldn't get too excited.

They said last month "Just wait until you see what we’re unveiling today..." which was probably referring to their super-stacked edition of On the Waterfront.

Chronicle of a Summer was pretty earth shattering, too.

A BD of The Big Red One (both Reconstructed and Theatrical Cut) would make my day if Warner were willing to licence it out. Would be a nice additional to Crit's Fuller library.

Badlands we know is coming. Blimp I'm in no hurry for now the UK one is out. We know Medium Cool is coming. I'd say Wild Strawberries on Blu but no upgrade, however wanted or promised, is worthy of the big statement. Let's go mythic and say Fassbinder's Eight Hours Don't Make a Day, or perhaps more realistic, The Thief of Bagdad (1940) on Blu to match The Four Feathers. Bitter Rice would be nice but I don't think Criterion would think it worthy of more than an Eclipse spot - they're wrong, but there you go.

A Lean Dickens Blu Ray duo would be nice as would Blus of the Olivier Shakespeares including Richard III, the only one not on UK Blu.

While I expect that Criterion will release Eight Hours Don't Make a Day, it won't be for a few years at least.

I thought the Febuary releases were pretty big. A loaded On The Waterfront addition, Chronicle of a Summer, and a Blu-ray upgrade for Sansho (even though I already own it on DVD)

I'm especially excited for Chronicles of a Summer, which apparently is really influential and hard to get

Unless Criterion restore the excised minutes from the DVD of Kwaidan (and which are included in the MoC DVD), they can keep their "upgrade".

I imagine that Criterion will do a full DVD/BD re-issue for Kwaidan when they get around to it.

Well, neat, a grand total of zero commentaries. That's kind of frustrating.

if there is an eclipse in April's releases it will be five months in between releases, easily the longest stretch the series has experienced (previous was four months between Allan King and Basil Dearden)

This is simply a great month. I'll definitely be buying everything, many of which it'll be the first time I'll be watching them (i.e. Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, Ministry of Fear, and A Man Escaped). Love seeing a WB film in the collection, and it shows that there's still hope for other films in their catalog.
