Sorry for the mistake. I always think that Lloyd, Keaton, etc. directed their all of their own movies even though I know better.Drucker wrote:According to the website, Harold Lloyd is not the director. Fred Newmeyer and Sam Taylor are.

Spartacus also comes to mind.thatobscurecharm wrote:The Spy Who Came in from the Cold cover didn't have Ritt's nameknives wrote:Is Safety Last! the first time a director is not listed on a cover?
But he often did not receive credit, either.knives wrote:Well Keaton, etc did at least.

I thought there were other co-directors on on Keaton's films, though I don't know how much they were involved.knives wrote:Well Keaton, etc did at least.
On topic, I think this months covers are all pretty good.

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on Vol.
While Lloyd did not direct Safety Last!, I think it is generally agreed that he is the true auteur behind it, so it's appropriate that his name appear upfront. Criterion did the same thing with their release of The Bank Dick, listing W.C. Fields's name over director Edward Cline's.

I have not been impressed with a lot of the covers this year but all of the new ones this month are fantasticmfunk9786 wrote:All 5 of these covers are amongst the best in the collection. Shoah may be the best ever.

Yeah. Shoah is the first cover to have wowed me in ages.
Great month for covers. An even greater month for releases.

Part of me wishes they would have tried a new cover for Wild Strawberries, though I'm at a loss for ideas as to what image they could've used from the film in place of the original.
Otherwise, I love all the new covers! Best month in... months.

Wow, any one of those interior artwork would have worked better for the cover.

While I do indeed like the interior artwork, I personally do not agree - I think the cover is dandy.

That "intense" booklet cover would have made such a great front cover, instead we get swimminghorses' punk phase.

Why would they hire two poster artists to create a really cool interior and then make that the cover?

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on Vol.
The interior artwork is too busy to work as a front cover. And the front works great.

Gate of Hell is gorgeous - except for that damned face! Everything else about the package is beautiful.
Did we know Repo Man was going to be a digi? That's a far better overall package than I was expecting from the horrid cover. Looks like it will be one of those that's much nicer in hand.

Uhhh whaaa no. It's an amazing cover?! You are certifiably wrong insane whatever it is. Clever. Stark. Stunning. One of their best in years. That's before you even compare it to the 0/100 cover by MOC. One of their worst. Night/Day. In/out. Yes/no.HistoryProf wrote:Did we know Repo Man was going to be a digi? I try to post 3D images of the cover art as soon as I get them. I posted the 3D shot of Repo Man a couple of months ago here.HistoryProf wrote:Did we know Repo Man was going to be a digi? I've just posted all of the 3D June covers here, if you're interested.

I agree 100%! I am so tempted to sell my MoC copy and get the Criterion just for the packaging.zitherstrings wrote:Uhhh whaaa no. It's an amazing cover?!
