Every time someone makes an UHD guess, Criterion employees push their UHD debut a month later

When they went Blu-ray they made a separate announcement about it, i.e. it wasn't a surprise on the 15th

Is there even any solid evidence that UHD is something Criterion are going to release? I just can’t see them releasing three types of physical media for each title.

I wonder, would UHD be a better format for digital distribution? I think Blu-Ray isn't quite up-to-snuff (I generally try to avoid Blu-Ray projected films) and would love for the medium to evolve towards a better (more equitable) distribution system

sorry, this should probably be in the UHD, or some other, thread.

Insomnia
Nolan's version?
Yeah, this is just a totally random guess. Frankly think it’s a pretty likely pick-up should the UHD jump happen - Warner clearly had the opportunity to bundle it in with their big boz and didn’t, so probably would be willing to license it out.
I'm guessing it's R-rating maybe put them off from including it. Maybe they'll release it individually at some point. It would be an interesting move if they did license it out, and Fox licensing out Sodebergh's Solaris.

True Stories
24 Frames (which I still think should include Five Dedicated to Ozu, because they're the same basic concept)
Notorious
Until the End of the World
Eight Hours Don't Make a Day
Youth of the Beast/Fighting Elegy upgrades

Wishful thinking guess: Equinox upgrade

This was always one of my favorite criterion releases and I hope we see an upgrade this year.

It seems they would need an anchor film for the sale ala Mulholland Drive, Boyhood/Pan's Labyrinth, and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me.

24 Frames and Let the Sunshine In just feel like December releases to me.

I'm honestly hoping they do something similar to their October 2014 slate of "The Complete Jacques Tati", La Dolce Vita, and My Darling Clementine and just overwhelm with canonical classics like they could potentially do with Notorious, The Magnificent Ambersons, and Bringing Up Baby and then surprise in November.

Jonathan Rosenbaum’s tweet suggested that Ambersons will be for November. The oldest newsletter clue currently is the car trunk with the person in it (Arsenic and Old Lace) which should be announced either tomorrow or next month.
