Minkin wrote:Hulu has like 7 movies in their "classics" genre - including James Bond, The Lorax and Friday the 13th. Its the absolute epitome of streaming service dumping "old" films. I know Hulu's movie offerings were never spectacular, but they at least had some interesting choices - even a year ago. Now it appears they've lost everything other than television.

I still have zero access to Filmstruck. I've tried on my computer (three different web browsers), my S/O's computer, and a tablet - and I can never get the page to load. So I have no way to check whether anything new has been added, so I'm going to be entirely reliant on people posting in this thread in order to update the forthcoming list.

I haven't added anything since The Missonary. Was anything new (Criterion) added? Ribs' list was rather unclear, is The End of Violence a new title with Criterion branding?
This link catalogs what is on the service and when it became available, but it doesn't tell you if it is under the criterion banner or not

Justwatch has been doing that - showing films as new when they were there for a while now - just checked my log and I watched it 12-25-2016.

Happened on a Filmstruck banner I never noticed - Filmstruck Originals. Twenty eight shorts that only talk about the films that Filmstruck has. Just watched a few that were excellent: Mike Leigh on Filmmaking, Indian Dance in Bollywood Films, A Short Essay on Chris Marker. One I had already seen: Barest Emotions: The Simplicity of Hideko Takamine.

I knew it was too good to be true. After initial (Nov 2016) problems with screen freezes / spinning wheel using Win Professional 7 and Chrome, and almost smooth sailing and 218 feature films (+ 42 shorts) after that, started having major problems a week ago and filmstruck support has not been able to fix it - uninstalled and reinstalled adobe flash was their major contribution to fix it (troubleshooting still ongoing I guess, awaiting word on what to try next) - I still can't watch more than a minute before it freezes, sometimes not even a minute, and every now and then, for good measure I guess, the audio goes out of sync with the action so I have to stop, close, reload / restart film. Sucks.

Subcategory added to the Filmstruck side comprising Chicago (2002) and Chicago (1927).

Looking around at some yet-to-be-added categories (on the Filmstruck side) shows categories soon forthcoming centered around Jean-Jacques Beineix, Dogme 95, Neorealism, Michael Powell, and Peter Bodganovich, which all sounds like it should make for some really interesting stuff to come in the near future.

Does anyone have a solution for the incessant buffering because oh my god. Why is this a problem? I can instantly stream a 4k video on Youtube but Filmstruck chugs at SD and gets caught up with the little pinwheel every thirty seconds.

Mine has improved (PC, using Chrome). From filmstruck support:

Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb ... ack_issues" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page, then click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.

Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.

Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.

Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.

Restart browser.

Nope, that didn't fix it. Ironically, the movie I've spent the last two hours trying to watch is A Brief History of Time.

This is atrocious. I can get through about thirty seconds of movie before it has to buffer again. Are their servers slammed on Wednesday afternoons?

Make your situation known to filmstruck support. Sometimes I think that it fixes itself from their end and nothing I do is anything but spinning my wheels - and poof - I get to watch a film all the way through (Boy and Coup de Grâce today).

Yeah, I'm pestering their email but no reply yet. Incredibly frustrating to have a movie cut up into thirty second chunks.

Just to check, I played 10 min of A Brief History of Time a bit ago without a glitch. Watching Stalker now and it's behaving (knock on wood). So clear - seeing things I never noticed the first couple times I saw this.
