Fortunately I doubt it would be left out of the top ten though if it is I am personally blaming you. :-$
I'd blame me too. That is such a mind-boggling omission. Easily top 10 material.

Tell that to your overworked typing fingers! :D

It should be interesting to compare our respective lists to see how representative we each are of 'Horror' movies, however they should be defined

Er, whether or not a long-standing horror sub-genre should actually be considered horror is kinda more what's got me typing than the vagaries of individual members' lists. To say that your claim has me nonplussed is nearly an understatement.

It is a somewhat surprising revelation to learn that Dario Argento spent the great majority of his career not making horror movies. In fact, by my count he's only made four...and three of those are giallos as well, just with a supernatural element.

Double negatives are a minefield, aren't they?

Christopher Lee (along with Peter Cushing of course) cracks my top ten. Just wouldn't feel right if he didn't.

Hopefully Price did too (not to mention Karloff and Lugosi). God if there was ever a film actor better than Price I have not seen any movies containing.

Karloff I got at #4, how could I not? But Lugosi doesn't come in until #17 and poor Price sits at #49. What can I say, I never grew up watching Price, so he doesn't have the same meaning for me as those other four. Still, wouldn't be a horror list without him, so I snuck him in at the end.

EDIT: Goddammit! I forgot Witchfinder General, too. That totally would've gone higher on my list than #49. Between this and Don't Look Now, I'm fully expecting to get your vote for Richard Cranium 2013, knives.

Should I have tried to justify including Confessions of an Opium Eater? Top 10 in my 60s list just doesn't seem like enough

I desperately need to see it and have been anticipating it since I saw the tripping out scene about a decade ago. Looking back at my list I'm surprised only Karloff got into the top ten (twice in fact) with everyone else filled in by twenty though with Karloff in the clear lead. Poor Lugosi though has no solo films to call his own until number 38.

Hmm. Mine breaks down like this:

Karloff: 5
Cushing: 5
Lee: 3
Lugosi: 2

Karloff and Cushing are the actors most represented on my list. I was a bit surprised Cushing had so many more than Lee, but I see he snuck in on a couple of minor roles.

Cushing was really a master of the one off (speaking of hopefully I can make up the lack of Rathbone in some other list).

Karloff:5
Price:3
Cushing:2
Lugosi:2
Lee:2

No Rathbone for me either, sadly. I really wanted to put Son of Frankenstein on there, but I figured if I didn't keep myself to a strict limit my entire list would be nothing but Hammer and Universal films. Lost amid the tragic cuts: Bride of Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, The Wolfman, Dracula, and countless others.

The cutting of Brides of Dracula and Plague of Zombies are the biggest hurts for me. I don't think I could fit another Whale on my list so The Invisible Man and Frankenstein don't hurt too much. I figure at least the former could be reserved for the comedy list.

Getting rid of Plague of Zombies hurt for sure.

I decided to only make room for one Whale on my list (not an easy choice for my first ever favourite director), but I figured I made up for it with the high placing of the one I did choose.
