I think there is a release of Ordinary People somewhere? Not in North America though.
There is a very poor quality release in Australia.

Along with Ordinary People, these Best Picture winners/nominees have not been released on Blu-ray in the US (working backwards and stopping at 1950 for now).

The Hours
In the Bedroom
Shine (Australia release is 1080i with extras, German release is barebones)
Il Postino (available in UK from Cult Films)
Quiz Show (OOP in Australia from Buena Vista)
The Crying Game (available in UK from BFI)
Bugsy
Children of a Lesser God (released in Australia from same distributor as Ordinary People, quality unknown)
The Dresser
Missing (available in UK from Indicator)
Heaven Can Wait
The Turning Point
Sounder
Z
Romeo and Juliet (available in UK from Paramount)
Rachel Rachel
Alfie (forthcoming in Australia from Imprint)
Darling (available in UK from StudioCanal)
America America
The Sundowners
Sons and Lovers
The Alamo
The Nun's Story
Friendly Persuasion
Around the World in 80 Days
The Rose Tattoo
The Country Girl
Julius Caesar
Moulin Rouge (available in UK from BFI)
Ivanhoe
Decision Before Dawn
A Place in The Sun (available in Australia from Imprint)
King Solomon's Mines

Serpico (in US)
There's a decent region-free Paramount blu that's readily available.

Yeah, Serpico's been released twice in the US. First by Warner, when they were controlling Paramount's back catalogue, and then a reissue of the same disc from Paramount once they started distributing their own releases again.

So inexplicable could be interpreted many ways. A lot of classics mentioned above, but from a money perspective, the highest-grossing film (North America, unadjusted) not to have a blu-ray anywhere is Three Men and a Baby.

The Dresser has always surprised me at not getting a Criterion release. I thought this was one of those proverbial wheel house films for them

Quick thought experiment.... what is the most inexplicable remaining movie not to have been released on a real Blu-ray[?]
Gotta be The Abyss.

Beg pardon if this is lightly off-topic, but seeing this thread's title reminded me of this:
Blu-ray (pronounced Blue ray) is what Blu-ray .com is all about.
Which I have always found perplexing and hilarious. Really? You don't say? How else would it be pronounced?

"Blurry"?
"Blah Ray"?
"DVD"?

Who do they think their audience is that doesn't know how to pronounce such a simple word? Are there a lot of kindergarteners buying physical media? Is it the hyphen that gives people trouble? Here's a hint: It's silent.

Such a strange thing.

I still weirdly want to see Jason Reitman's "Thank You For Smoking" on blu-ray. Also, I haven't seen it but Jonathan Glazer's "Birth" still hasn't gotten a blu-ray release.

I think we’ve joked about a blu ray conspiracy against Kidman a few times now, mostly referencing this and Dogville’s omissions from region A

Falls under standard "disconnection" protocol. Who knew Scientologists had so much control over the hi-def home video market?

Well, after 13 years and thousands of discs, I finally have one that's probably gone bad over the time. My copy of Harry Potter 6 simply does load on any player or PC drive I've tried. Though, to be fair, I am not 100% sure it ever worked properly, as I've had it in a boxset for many years and never made it past the fifth film. I've had a handful of visibly defective discs that were damaged during manufacturing or packaging, but this one looks perfect to the eye.

VCI Entertainment has restored and is releasing Angel on My Shoulder. Here is the trailer. It's a very waxy look.
