People will just refuse to vote because it doesn't have Le Cercle Rouge.

No Reds, no sale. It's not my fault Criterion didn't bother to release it

Nonetheless, without High and Low on the ballot I'm not voting.
Just to be clear, I want to vote for High and Low not only because it's my favorite, but because it's the one about which I have something to say. I've actually lived in Kamakura (scene of the dead druggies), I've actually ridden on the Enoden (the small train that provides an audio clue for the detectives). And I've watched that film probably more than any of the others. There's always something of interest to discuss in any Kurosawa, but I don't have any particular need to discriminate amongst them if High and Low is out of contention.

Vote Time Again!

#1059 Post by Mr Sausage » Fri Jan 13, 2017 6:34 am

To coincide with the All-Time List, here are five randomly chosen Criterions eligible for that vote.

I've seen all of these, voted for Red Desert because it's the best and because the second best would make 3 of the last 5 winners come from the same director!

But that'll make the last three discussions all Red.

We did Red Desert back in September 2014 - I don't mind discussing it again as it's one of my favourite films, but just wanted to mention this. Maybe substitute L'avventura, which I'm guessing is also eligible for this vote, and might generate more discussion?

That's right! Whoops. I've removed the entry (sorry, domino). I'll get swo17 to replace it with another randomly generated film when he gets the chance.

Apparently changing a poll resets all votes made so far, so everyone who voted will have to recast their votes.

Fine, why not. It's a good substitute.

Looks like there are a few old winners that I'd forgotten to exclude from my list, this being one of them. Sorry.

For what it's worth, the next randomly generated title would have been The Phantom of Liberty.

I like trying to work out what titles are on the poll from the comments alone. For some reason, Tapatalk doesn't support them.

He presumably can't vote on Tapatalk either though.

Yes, for some reason Tapatalk doesn't have support for polls, at least that I've seen. I'm still looking at implementing a design that is mobile friendly but am not quite there yet (and please note I've been looking at doing this since mid last year, so it's probably still not happening too soon).
