The name will remain the same. The fourth film will be positioned as an extra.

If I were to guess, I'd imagine this announcement came so close to the previous release date, so they could get all their ducks in a row and confirm a new date (however far out), rather than potentially announcing multiple short delays over the same period.
Exactly. I don't see that this poses a problem to anybody except reviewers, and even then I don't really get why it's a problem (they were expecting an early copy, but now their early copy will be delayed like all the regular copies?)

This is fantastic news, as far as I'm concerned.

Terrific news, and am more than happy to put up with a delay for this reason. Hopefully Arrow can fully match the Japanese release by also including both cuts of Poem as mentioned earlier in this thread.

From page 1 of this thread:

"Surely the most important release of the year.

That said, the "trilogy" thing is silly. There are four brilliant, thematically linked Jissoji films between 1970 and 1974, and the best (by a smidgen) is the one that's not included here, Asaki yumemishi [A Faint Dream]."

So ... Great news!

to get an impression of "Asaki yumemishi" you can watch a english subbed trailer on a japanese blog (and some nice screenshots) https://blog.goo.ne.jp/ikandesu_2009/e/ ... 29eeed54ef

It's very welcoming that we are getting another film in this, especially a good one. I like all the films in this set except for Mandara (1971), but it was over 5 years ago I saw it, so I'm willing to give it a new chance now that we'll have a Blu-ray transfer. I think it was the first Jissôji film i saw. I remember that the atmosphere was interesting together with the typical floating camera work that Jissôji often had in the early seventies, but it lacked the punch and intensity that I enjoyed in his other films. I can also remember some striking night scenes that were filmed outside. The more I think about it, the more I'm actually looking forward to rewatching it.

As for the price, I managed to pre-order it for £35.99 at Zavvi in the beginning of October, which I think is a nice deal. The price was actually higher pretty much everywhere a while back. It's £39.99 at Zavvi for now, which seems to be the cheapest for the moment. I just hope they don't do any changes in terms of making it a new product or something now that the packaging and content will be changing.

Delayed, with no new release date
We are very sorry to update that we are still encountering some production issues on our forthcoming release of Akio Jissoji: The Buddhist Trilogy. Whilst we always strive to release announced titles on time, occasionally there are unforeseen issues that may arise during our production plans, and in this case, we have encountered one or two issues that has meant that we will be unable to release this title within year.

Rather than move this title to a new provisional date in 2019, we are removing it from sale until we can 100% confirm a new date for release.

Looking at my account, my order's both been cancelled, and as far as I can remember, the points I used have been returned along with the promised extra 500 compensation points; though I've not received a refund yet. I also got this email this morning:
Arrow wrote:Good afternoon,

Your Buddhist Trilogy refund is being processed ASAP by our finance team but unfortunately has to be fully refunded, we are unable to do part refunds/part cancellations on pre-orders at this time. Some of the other items are still available to purchase but we understand that some are sold out. If one of the titles on your cancelled order with the Buddhist Trilogy is sold out, and you still want it then please contact us and we can create a manual order for you. Thank you for your understanding and custom and please contact us if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,

Team Arrow
Not sure why they might think I don't want an out-of-print title I ordered anymore, but anyway...
