I hope you guys don't mind, but I'm trying to get the word out about the shop I've just opened. It's called Foreign Exchange Blu-ray Imports, and to my knowledge it's the only brick and mortar store in America that specializes in the sale of import Blu-ray discs. It's at 10826 Venice Blvd. in Culver City, California and it's open from noon 'til 10 pm on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and from noon 'til 11 pm on Friday and Saturday. The shop's closed on Tuesdays.
Foreign Exchange currently has an inventory of more than 120 titles, with orders being placed and shipments arriving every day. It also has a reference copy of every title available for sale, so that customers can verify things like picture quality, region coding, subtitles, etc. before buying. The shop also has an a/v setup that includes two Oppo BDP-103s (one Region A locked and the other a multi-region player).
If you (or someone you know who wants to get you something for Christmas
) are in the Los Angeles area, then come on down and check it out. I think I've got some pretty reasonable prices on a wide range of stuff. Where else can you find Potemkine's Rohmer box, the 36th Chamber of Shaolin Trilogy box, the Japanese 4k color Ozus, the Hou Hsiao-Hsien and Tsai Ming-Liang sets, and the BFI Herzog, Bergman, and Mizoguchis side by side on one retail shelf?
Lastly, since I'm already in total shill mode, here's the shop's social media info:
Thanks, and hope to see you soon!
