This fits in the "irresponsible conjecture" category, but is it possible Arrow would do an Academy release that is the equivalent of the Shout Pink Panther set? I was just looking over it when I realized as it was MGM it could well be licensed out to any of the other UK labels (unless international rights are weird?)...

From Home Cinmea Choice interview with James White
  • new exclusive 4K Dario Argento titles to be released in 2017
  • more Mario Bava in 2017 (beyond Caltiki I assume)
  • volume 2 and 3 of American Horror Project coming
  • two Romero films: The Crazies and Season of the Witch both in 4K from the original elements

For those keeping score. I just received Network from Amazon and there is a booklet with it. Very happy about that. I took a chance. Arrow's site list this title's extras without booklet.

Amazon UK is listing a June release for Aquarius, in the Arrow Academy. I assume this is the Kleber Mendonça Filho film?

I believe it's just an Arrow Films release, not Arrow Academy. Was announced they'd acquired it for theatrical/home video distribution a while back, along with Koreeda's After the Storm.

Looking forward to seeing Aquarius. I loved Neighbouring Sounds, one of the best films released in 2013. It was a shame Artificial Eye didn't choose to release it on Blu-ray.

The photo linked above of a 4K restoration has been identified on Blu-ray.com as being from Argento's Phenomena.

Honestly, with the soundtrack and multiple cuts of the film, it's hard to imagine the Synapse being topped

Well, the Arrow release will be sourced from a new 4K restoration (don't know which cut(s) though) while the Synapse release have both longer versions sourced from 2 pre-existing masters, with the 116 min being quite DNRed and the Creepers cut being recreated from the 110 min master.

So technically, Arrow could replicate exactly the Deep Red treatment and it would top the Synpase release : a new 4K restoration from the longest version, shorter cuts recreated from this restoration and a CD of the OST.
They could even throw in a Steelbook on top of that.

CInema Guild release Neighbouring Sounds on Blu-ray in the US and it is Region B playable.

Can someone see if these are stock photos for something? That's what they've done before.

I think they're a brain and a dog, but I could be wrong.

The dog image is tagged with "animal," "collar," "dog," "labrador," "nose," "pet," and "retriever." But it's probably just referring to a dog.

Cool, so that means Criterion will then release their version in the UK three months later!

Some wild hopes:

Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999, Jim Jarmusch) / Who'll Stop the Rain [aka Dog Soldiers] (1978, Karel Reisz) / The Wolves (1971, Hideo Gosha)

Less likely:

Stray Dog (1949, Akira Kurosawa) / La chienne (1931, Jean Renoir) / Barking Dogs Never Bite (2000, Bong Joon-ho)

Even less likely:

Time of the Wolf (2003, Michael Haneke) / The Plague Dogs (1982, Martin Rosen) / Hour of the Wolf (1968, Ingmar Bergman)

And more likely for Arrow Video but Sleeping Dogs (1977, Roger Donaldson) would be great fun.

I'm pretty sure that if Arrow wanted to hint at a film with "wolf" in the title, they'd use a picture of a wolf and not a big cuddly lab.

Hence the 'even less likely' bit.

It's a stock image of a dog. No more, no less.

Arrow does this now because far too many people used to run film stills through image search engines in the deeply mistaken belief that this made them latterday Sherlock Holmeses instead of irritating killjoys.
