The Man with the Golden Arm (Otto Preminger, 1955)

Another restoration supported by the Film Foundation (this time restored by the Academy Film Archives with further support from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association) is being screened in NYC, this time at the Museum of the Moving Image.

Two showings on Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21, both at 7 p.m. I've never been to this museum, but to my understanding, one ticket to the museum gets you admission to all films showing the day of, plus admission to the museum. So if you want to make a day of it, Pal Joey is also screening on the 20th, and High Society is also screening on the 21st, both at 4 pm before The Man with the Golden Arm. This is a public domain title, so it's particularly great that someone put up the money for a restoration. I'm not sure if it's ever been used on a DVD (if it has, the most likely candidate would be the single disc Warner Bros. DVD from 2008ish), but definitely needs to be seen on the big screen.

This preservation/restoration was done circa 2006 and has been shown before. Nothing new.

Yeah I figured but it hasn't been issued on home video, so if you missed it the first time around, it would be a big deal.
