Stations of the Elevated (Manfred Kirchheimer, 1979)

Here in several parts.

I discovered this whopper totally by accident threading thru various old school nyc graf posts. Aside from being filled to bursting with precious footage of the bronx of my youth, and containing some cool panel pieces & whole cars by Blade & Seen and other buds of mine, this is a sublime piece of verite style documentary which I couldnt believe I never heard of. Tons of footage of a disappeared NYC, with music from Mingus and Duke Ellington (reminding a touch of Daybreak Express, but a far different and far less bourgoise pedigree. And so delicate yet so heavy.)

Unfortunately this bad boy does no exist on dvd. I post a thread here for it so that if it does, someone may flag it if it blows under the radar.
