Re: Untitled "Of The Dead" Film (George A. Romero, 2009)
Iraq war commentary? Really, George?Grandpa Romero wrote:"There are two factions. It's the idea that even when faced with a crisis, tribal concerns about power control people's motives."
I would prefer Monkey Shines 2 at this point.

George A Romero wrote:There's a good deal of commentary in the film. But also there's zombies.

I don't see what the problem with that quote is. "[T]he idea that even when faced with a crisis, tribal concerns about power control people's motives" has been the overarching theme of every one of his zombie movies back to Night. Makes no sense to start rolling your eyes at it now.emcflat wrote:Iraq war commentary? Really, George?Grandpa Romero wrote:"There are two factions. He's about to run out of conflicts to tackle. Three films from now, the zombie victims' plight will be inspired by the Cola Wars

There should be a film where George Romero (played by George Romero) stands over an equine carcass and starts beating the dead horse. Suddenly the horse rises up and becomes a zombie horse. The rotting beast then devours Romero for forty years of mistreatment.

The fate of George Romero's career rests on whether or not John McCain wins the election.domino harvey wrote:He's about to run out of conflicts to tackle. Three films from now, the zombie victims' plight will be inspired by the Cola Wars

Amen, brother. So now we'll have a proper pair of bookends (two trilogies.) Difference is, the first one took 17 years.Grand Illusion wrote:There should be a film where George Romero (played by George Romero) stands over an equine carcass and starts beating the dead horse. (PS- imdb has it as, yes, Island of the Dead)

That's pretty short sighted. Obama will likely win and Americans can feel smug about themselves for five minutes, but his foreign policy is virtually indistinguishable from McCain. He supports Israel without reservation, is prepared to bomb Iran and launch unilateral attacks into Pakistan. He wants other Nato nations to join in a troop surge in Afghanistan. And don't forget it was Lyndon Johnson, a Democrat, who sent troops into Vietnam. Clinton bombed Sudan and imposed economic sanctions on Iraq that killed half a million children.Mr_sausage wrote:The fate of George Romero's career rests on whether or not John McCain wins the election.domino harvey wrote:He's about to run out of conflicts to tackle. angry? Not at all. Lecture? Hardly. The Moderator started us down that track. And if these were only Zombie movies then this wouldn't have come up in the first place.

Oh how I wish Romero would make films that were "only Zombie movies" these days.Nothing wrote:And if these were only Zombie movies then this wouldn't have come up in the first place.
