Carrie Fisher (1956-2016) & Debbie Reynolds (1932-2016)
Not sure where to put this. Carrie Fisher suffered a massive heart attack on a flight from London to LA.

Seemed inevitable after hearing that she was out for ~15 minutes, though

At this pace, next year will see a massive rate of suicides within celebrities' agents.

Because of all the celebrities who died this year, so the agents are crying over losing part of their portfolio ?mfunk9786 wrote:Pardon?

Wonderfully funny in her interviews, so much that Princess Leia seemed like a stodgy straight jacket on her personality.

Rogue OneShow
This is what we get for CGIing her into new Star Wars movies.

SpoilerShow
Apparently, she wrapped shooting on Episode VIII, but I'm fearful that Episode IX will resurrect her à la Peter Cushing.

Postcards from the Edge may very well be the best show of her talents on film.

Re: Carrie Fisher (1956-2016)
Take it as a defense mechanism against this year which basically has taken away all the icons I grew up with from when I was 1 : Bowie, Fisher, Tchernia, Rickman, Mirra, Spencer, Coffe.mfunk9786 wrote:...oh. k.tenia wrote:Because of all the celebrities who died this year, so the agents are crying over losing part of their portfolio ?mfunk9786 wrote:Pardon?
It just feels as if 2016 is telling me in an extremely brutal way "grow up and move on, now", like some innocence now gone forever.
I never really felt moved by celebrities deaths. I mean, I don't know any of them personally, I never even saw them once for real, like at a Q&A after a screening or something. I only remember having been moved by Heath Ledger's death pretty deeply, because of the big empty feeling of so much potential being crushed to oblivion by death. Fortunately, I'm also lucky enough to still have many of my close relatives alive.
But this year really felt different in the way that suddenly, here are all these people I can relate many events of my life that are gone, and it's weird, and it hurts because it feels as if part of the happy period that was my childhood is taken away from me, and all I'm left with is lame jokes to cope with it.

Her imdb credits aren't too hot, so it's good that one of the last things she did was an above average sitcom - the british "Catastrophe". She was quite good in it.

Re: Carrie Fisher (1956-2016)
That 2016 began with losing Bowie and ended with losing Carrie will always sadden my memories of the year.
Because I haven't seen this mentioned in obits or tributes, I just wanted to mention that she was memorably spot-on in her small role during one of my favorite scenes from "Austin Powers - International Man of Mystery."

Not surprising I'm afraid to say. She's been ill for quite some time and now lost her beloved daughter. Heartbreaking.
