Alex Ross Perry wrote that Winnie-the-Pooh movie! It’s actually good! I swear!

Audiard was a running joke all night long about how he wins every time and predictably ended up winning Best Director anyway.
Glad to see Jusqu'à la garde getting such highlights.
Hoped Shoplifters would win and yes it did.

^ The only quibble I have with the above is Roma winning International Feature over Burning but other than that, the Independent Spirit Awards' nominatons and wins is what the Oscars should have been like.

I wonder how Roma's team really feels about the nomination for Best Picture and Best Foreign Film. It's possible that the double nomination could have cost the film some votes in either or both categories. They probably reckon that the love for the film is strong enough that they'll prevail in either race. Would be quite an upset if it was to lose in both but I imagine the opposite is more likely if still not a realistic prospect because the Academy likes to spread the love.

In any case, I'd be happy to see Green Book and Bohemian Rhapsody shut out for major awards tomorrow and I'm not sure Rami Malek is a guaranteed winner for Best Actor if enough people felt that Bradley Cooper got unfairly overlooked for Best Director and got sympathy votes in the process or they simply liked Cooper's performance better than Malek's or a combination of the two.

Breaking down the broadcast bloat by numbers shows that the biggest time eaters are montages, skits, and minutes spent walking to the podium. Cutting 4 categories was never going to save as much time as trimming other parts of the show, which makes me more convinced that Disney specifically wanted to omit categories that weren’t promoting them. Or that the broadcast producers are stunningly incompetent. Take your pick.

Regina King gave such an insanely great performance in that film, here's to vote splitting! That wig scene alone is worthy of this award and she doesn't say a word in it

I’m 4 for 4 on guesses so far and could not be more bored. Never bet on the Academy being exciting, folks.

Reading your speech off a phone is a fascinating move, and this speech will hold up excellently if Coogler has anything short of an exemplary personal life

Though the fact that there was something very, very wrong with her mic did not help.

A song about RBG being a bosslady isn't gonna be very watchable with any microphone rig
