Customers automagically receive two months access to VS Direct with every completed purchase. If you've paid for an order in the last 30 days, you will have day one access to VS Direct on November 7th.

VS Direct is a curated streaming section of our site that will stream one film at a time in HD. These will be a mixture of unreleased films from our archive and films that have only been available on DVD. Films will be swapped out every two weeks on Friday.

Other than that, it's a slow news week here at VS hq! We're very busy developing releases for 2015 ~ lots of great titles to announce shortly.

VS wrote:After much speculation, email queries and online rumors, here's the official word on our highlight releases in the first half of 2015:
January will bring a limited-edition blu-ray of SEX WORLD, two Hyapatia Lee films RIBALD TALES OF CANTERBURY & TASTY and a couple of our most requested Tobalina titles.
In February we'll be releasing our final Wakefield Poole disc, a loaded 2-DVD set of his two San Francisco films, TAKE ONE and MOVING, along with a crazy assortment of extras.
Then in March, Jim Bryan's cult classic, DON'T GO IN THE WOODS will be making its blu-ray debut, in a new 2K restoration from the 35mm interpositive (expect more awesome weirdness from the mind of Mr. Bryan later in the year). Also another Cirio Santiago film THE MUTHERS!
In April, DEMONOID will finally be hitting the streets for its first official release since the 1980s! We're including both cuts of the film as well as some other cool extra features.
Finally, in May, one of our most requested titles, MADMAN, will be coming to blu-ray in a beautiful new 4K scan and restoration from the 35mm camera negative!
Also be on the lookout for rarities from Alex deRenzy, Bob Chinn, and much more...

...

A few responses to questions posed: first, THE BEES is slated for early summer right now.
NAKED ZOO will hopefully make it out in the summer as well.
Jimmy, we have plenty of X rated titles in the works. The All American double will probably be out in April or May.
As for LHODES, it's coming, but as I've said before, we're doing it right, I.e. we want to make sure it looks the best it can. That's taken a lot longer than expected and it's frustrating for everyone, especially us. But it will happen.

It's still quite a surprise to me to see such niche titles being curated this way, both on the sources (4K scans) and then on video (BD releases).

I know the US can be a market big enough for this, but it remains quite (postiviely) amazing to me.

I don't know the exact details but I understand that VS are in a unique situation because they own their own scanning facility. In fact, I think they used to be a scanning facility first and the VS label grew out of that. So obviously doing new transfers of this sort of stuff isn't as much a financial burden for them as it would be for others.

FRIGHTMARE has been added to their 2015 roster by the way.

HOT SUMMER IN THE CITY is available for free streaming until January 7th if you have made a VS order in the last month (you'll get instant access for 2 months whenever you make a future purchase).

More importantly, the full 5GB is available to download via a torrent file on the same page. VS remind you that "This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License. You are free to share this movie with any other individuals as well as burn the film to a disc for your own personal use."

'Let My Puppets Come' is a classic & the first dirty muppets style film & does it a whole 13 years before Peter Jackson's 'Meet the Feebles'.

'Let my Puppets Come' is better than any of the Muppet movies.

Friday 10am EST:
VS wrote:The Annual VinegarSyndrome.com Black Friday Sale Begins Friday!

It's that time of year again. When you spend your hard earned, well saved income on the only thing more important than food or shelter: cinematic sleazy. It's Black Friday 2014 – November 28th thru December 1st!

If you were around last year, you may remember that the response was way better than we anticipated and we ran out of a lot of stuff. No so this time around (we hope)! We've overstocked ourselves to prepare for the ensuing onslaught of dozen-title-plus purchases. That being said, we still recommend filling your shopping cart early to guarantee you get that copy of GAME SHOW MODELS you've been waiting 11 months to buy. Also, don't forget to pick up a discounted copy of our limited PRETTY PEACHES blu, cause those will be gone before you know it…

Also, we'll have the final supply of our previous limited-edition blu-rays JEKYLL & HYDE PORTFOLIO / A CLOCKWORK BLUE and RUNAWAY NIGHTMARE in-stock and discounted! Those will sellout fast!

This is going to be our last sale of the year, seeing as we're taking December off for new releases. But in January, we'll be back with our third X rated limited blu, SEX WORLD! Discounted pre-orders for our January releases will be available all Black Friday weekend.

And remember horror fans, who bemoan the less-than-equal ratio between T&A and blood n' guts, 2015 is shaping up to be horror heavy, with DON’T GO IN THE WOODS, DEMONOID and MADMAN all coming to blu before summer.

So keep up the anticipation (also the title of a Tobalina film to be released in 2015) and spend, save and enjoy this Friday thru Monday.

THE DETAILS:
November releases = 20-50% off
January pre-orders = 40% off
Everything else = 50% off
Plus a way cool offer you’ll have to see to believe!

Related: Our supply of the limited edition PRETTY PEACHES blu-ray combo is quite low. If you'd like a copy, I would grab one sooner then later!

February Pre-orders Now Available:

CHAMPAGNE FOR BREAKFAST (DVD)
THE DON DAVIS TRIPLE FEATURE (DVD)
COME UNDER MY SPELL + LADY DYNAMITE (DVD) are now available for pre-order! Pre-order as a 'Monthly Package' and save 30%!

In the next few weeks, we'll be starting pre-orders for our March lineup, which includes DON'T GO IN THE WOODS on blu-ray!

March will bring:

DON'T GO IN THE WOODS (BD/DVD)
THE MUTHERS (DVD)
HOT LEGS + CALIFORNIA GIGOLO (DVD)
DIXIE RAY HOLLYWOOD STAR + IT'S CALLED MURDER BABY (DVD)
SEX WORLD (DVD) *mass market version*

Finally, if you're lucky enough to have an Alamo Drafthouse theater near you, our ongoing monthly series with them continues all January with RAW FORCE and then in February with DONT GO IN THE WOODS. All screenings are DCPs of our new restorations.

That's all for now -- keep on the lookout for a major announcement in the next couple weeks...
If anyone who wouldn't usually buy a hardcore title is curious, Sex World is probably one of the best places to start. Clever, funny and even touching, they literally don't make them like this anymore. Pretty Peaches on the other hand, is best left to the trench coat brigade.

i would like to concur with eddielurkin. i was actually coming to post about 'sex world' because as an adult film, it's really quite enjoyable.

btw: as i understood, the reason why 'hot summer in the city' was released for free steaming was due to copyright issues because of the music used in the film. i know the film is credited as being directed by gail palmer but supposedly this has been "questionable" (i was told this by one of the people working at distribpix)

My general understanding is that it's iffy as to whether Palmer actually directed anything, her name served mainly as a directorial pseudonym on the pictures her partner produced while she herself was primarily a promotional prop. Of course while Palmer was being utilised to profit from the 'gimmick' of adult films being directed by a women, the few women who were working in hardcore at the time (i.e. Roberta Findlay and Doris Wishman) were signing their films with male pseudonyms.

So far VS Direct seems to have been mainly used to distribute films for which they have good quality elements, but where licensing issues are almost certainly intractable. That seemed to be the case for the second streaming release The Bride's Initiation as well. Music rights are a real sticking point for a lot of '70s XXX quickies, with many slapping pop hits all over the soundtrack as well as cues lifted from major Hollywood films.

I concur with the Sex World recommendation as well. The release itself is top-notch and the film is certainly an easier entry point into the world of early hardcore than something like Pretty Peaches. I'd never been too impressed with other Anthony Spinnelli films but he shows a fair amount of flair in this, particularly in the way he balances the eroticism with the latent sense of discomfort underlying all the sex scenes. It's one of those few XXX films where the sex has enough emotional investment that you don't constantly feel like fast-forwarding through it.

The long awaited Skinaflix service becomes VinegarSyndrome.tv, Indiegogo campaign is launched to help with start up.
We're Proud to Announce our Indiegogo Campaign for VinegarSyndrome.tv!

For much of the past year, we’ve been promoting a streaming site with the name Skinaflix. In the early development stage, it was decided that as wonderful as the Skinaflix concept was, it seemed a mistake to limit it only to sexploitation. With that in mind, we have revamped the concept into VinegarSyndrome.tv, a more diverse streaming service with the inclusion of ALL genres distributed by Vinegar Syndrome and our new label, Etiquette Pictures.

Launching with over 200 titles presented in HD, VinegarSyndrome.tv promises to be a streaming powerhouse for all things exploitation and sleaze, from G rated to full hardcore. Including informative blogs, exclusive titles, and special discounts on DVDs and Blu-rays.

To help speed up the development process and add features such as Roku, iOS and Android apps, we’re launching an Indiegogo campaign. If our goal is met, the site will go live on May 1st. Much of the legwork has already been done, but with a successful campaign, the process could be sped up exponentially. Please give what you can, and if not please promote the campaign and spread the word in any way possible.

For more information and to view the Indiegogo campaign, visit:
http://www.VinegarSyndrome.tv" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks from Team VS!
Many more details can be found on the actual Indiegogo page. It's hard for me to get excited about any sort of streaming service, but the $65 option is very tempting. For that you get an Indiegogo exclusive Blu-ray of a title described as "one of the craziest films of the 80s...It's a surprise for now, but it's a frequently requested title and it's never been legally released anywhere in the world! It's destined to be one of the most WTF films ever to hit Blu-ray", as well as an Indiegogo exclusive DVD of Len Anthony's MURDEROUS INTENT and FRIGHT HOUSE, plus a full year's subscription (worth $120). If you're like me and you buy all of VS's Blu-rays, and are willing to try out most of their DVDs, it's pretty worthwhile since the 2 exclusive titles alone would cost around $40 if they were available in the shop. Similarly, the $100 option, which is the same but adds any 4 current or future VS discs, is also a great deal as you can save it up to use on the more expensive items (Blu-rays and Limited Edition Blu-rays especially).

Nice! I'll be keeping an eye on this. I haven't purchased anything from them yet, but I'd subscribe to stream a bunch of titles I'm unlikely to need to own.

The $20 or $30 level is more my speed, although the ones with discs more than pay for themselves. The $100 is a screaming deal: it's essentially the price of 4 discs, with streaming thrown in free, and even if I hate the two exclusives I can sell them off to recoup a chunk.

Does anyone have any theories on what the Indiegogo-donation exclusive Blu-ray might be? "One of the craziest films of the 80s...it's a frequently requested title and it's never been legally released anywhere in the world!"

Didn't realise I hadn't commented on this... Now this is how you do crowd-funding, the rewards just seem fantastic - even if they don't get 100% funded, they're planning to still push ahead anyway (even if it takes longer) and you still get your DVDs whatever happens. If you average a VS release at $18, then six of them come to $108, and Indiegogo are offering the same number of releases (2 'limited editions' which should be easy to flip at above-market price, 4 of your own choice - so you could easily only pick the more expensive editions) for just $2 more and a whole year's subscription thrown in. And if you're from across the pond, the addition of $25 shipping (as opposed to the usually crippling $12 per delivery) I almost feel like I'm robbing them. And then I think I'm actually far more enthusiastic about streaming than others here (even without the prospect of 1080p), so with the promise of 200 titles at launch this is pretty much Christmas for me.

VS very comfortably hit their target (144% funded, which means iOS and Android apps will be developed, very useful for all those times I want to watch pornography on the train) and are keeping the Indiegogo page open so that you can still choose to pre-order.

It seemed to have ground to a halt at $35,000 for a long time. Then in the last 72 hours they managed to raise another $40,000! Also, whilst the Indiegogo page is still open this apparently wasn't intentional. VS have said it's something Indiegogo do automatically if the creator doesn't opt out at the start of the campaign. So they're not sure how long it'll actually be available for, though have assured any further pledges will still receive the same benefits as everyone else.

There was this Alex deRenzy update a few weeks back:
VS wrote:A couple announcements regarding some upcoming titles: we're continuing to dig into the deep vaults of Alex deRenzy and have three of his weirdest movies making their very first AUTHORIZED DVD releases ever in April. The first is a double feature of two of Alex's earliest surviving features, his 1971 meta western, Powder Burns, which has never been on home video ever, to be paired with his crazy 1972 comedy, Little Sisters, which might be the strangest film deRenzy ever directed.
Also coming to DVD authorized and uncut for the very first time is his notorious 1977 film, Long Jeanne Silver. Long only available in low quality bootlegs, sourced from splicy and beat up prints, Long Jeanne Silver is being restored from vault elements and will look better than it ever has before.
From Wikipedia: "Long Jeanne Silver is an American former pornographic actress, known for using the stump of her amputated leg to penetrate her sexual partner in her movies during the 1970s and 1980s."
VS wrote:This afternoon, we recorded a very enjoyable commentary track with Jeanne Silver, for our upcoming DVD of LONG JEANNE SILVER. It marked the very first time she'd ever seen the film!
I probably would have skipped this one but I fear that commentary could be too fantastic to pass up...
