As many had suspected, the Observer article regarding the lawsuit settlement over THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND was definitely premature. Oja Kodar, whom the article stated had agreed to sell her interests in the film, denies that the parties have reached any sort of agreement. Basically, the situation remains the same as it has for over a decade.

A book is being written about the film with the working title An Adventure Shared By Desperate Men (That Finally Came to Nothing).

Henry Jaglom has recently uploaded twenty-two minutes of footage from THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND, most of it has not been available before.

Fascinating stuff which strikes me as quite similar to what Nicholas Ray was doing at the same time with his final feature project WE CAN'T GO HOME AGAIN. Alas, while Ray's recently restored film has just been released on Blu-ray, Welles' effort remains in legal limbo.

Henry Jaglom's footage from The Other Side of the Wind was removed off of YouTube by Oja Kodar (which I can only hope means she finally has the rights), but I downloaded it before it was removed and have uploaded it on MediaFire if anyone still hasn't seen it.

EDIT: Sorry about the ridiculous format. I was scrolling through Twitter on my phone while I was waiting for one of my kids to fall asleep, and had to post via Tapatalk when I saw the article in my feed. Here's a nicer link to the NYT story.

Looks like this is going to end up being released in 2016 at the earliest:

Distributors want to see edited The Other Side of the Wind footage before committing money

That $25,000 35mm print...will probably try to muster up the money for the $40 or $50 reward.

I'm just surprised that among the "Wall of Supporting Directors" the $2 million being sought can't be pulled together.

Like many crowd funded projects, the money being sought from this campaign is in addition to other monies already raised/accounted for. This is a very expensive project due to rights issues, the state of the elements and the time/resources needed to both complete and restore the film to a state that will appease any interested parties in 2015.

I'll probably contribute, but I feel very worried that I'm throwing my money away and the film won't come to fruition.

I feel this has a very real chance of being completed and was happy to contribute some funds. Like "jwo17" noted, I feel like quite a bit of money has already been spent and this crowdfunding will go a long way to establish the film as a viable product.

Of course, there is also part of me that fears the end product might prove the whole venture was and remains a quixotic mess, but I'm willing to take that chance! It can't turn out worse than Jess Franco's rendition of DON QUIXOTE, can it?

I was also only too happy to contribute. If there's any film that I'd pay $50 to see, it's The Other Side of the Wind. I'd also pay that amount to see the Munich Film Museum's holdings restored and released.

There's an Indiegogo campaign to finish The Other Side of the Wind. I wish I had $25,000 laying around to donate to it--I love that a 35mm print of the film is a perk. (Not to mention that Citizen Kane scrapbook, which I'm amazed no one has nabbed yet as of this writing.)

$50 to help fund it and get the Blu-ray seems like a fair deal to me. Here's hoping it works out.

Agreed. I'm hoping to see more sites pick this up as news soon. I seriously doubt they hit the $2 million mark, and given the way indiegogo's funding works failing to do so means losing a fair amount of cash.

Can't afford it, but the $1000 level package looks nice - a box of custom cigars, plus posters, Blu-ray and download, coffee table book and monogrammed robe.

So far, it's mostly small gifts that are going, which means progress is slow. At this rate, it's going to hit $50k in a single day, which ain't bad considering it's mostly small gifts, but it also suggests that this is going to go down to the wire. Meanwhile, Zach Braff's shitty film got it's $2 million in a few days…you can't trust people.

If I'm following you, that's actually not how IndieGoGo works--they're doing a "flexible funding" campaign which means they get whatever money they raise regardless of whether they meet their goal--but IGG will take a larger percentage of their funding if they don't reach $2mil.

EDIT: I was not following you, we were sayin the same thing.
