Re: Criterion Newsletter (Part 3)
I thought the same. It's a much needed release, too, given the age of the old DVD. I could see them pairing the release with Barton Fink.sir_luke wrote:First thing I though of was The Man Who Wasn't There
One caveat to this being correct is that the jacket doesn't really match anything Thornton wears in that film as far as I can tell.

You spelled "Il Sorpasso" wrong.ptatler wrote:MIDNIGHT COWBOY

First thought was a Blu-Ray upgrade for Missing, though considering nothing is in blue, I doubt it.

"The Invisble Man" is the only one I can think of.

Also possible The Man Who Never Was since they love Ronald Neame-directed films so much..

Re: Criterion Newsletter (Part 3)
I'm going to go with that. I think there was a restoration of it recently. Even if there wasn't a restoration it seems like the more reasonable answer.criterion10 wrote:First thought was a Blu-Ray upgrade for Missing, though considering nothing is in blue, I doubt it.

Re: Criterion Newsletter (Part 3)
I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess Alfred Hitchcock's Secret Agent (1936), starring Madeleine Carroll, Peter Lorre, John Gielgud, and Robert Young.
Criterion has a number of other Hitchcock films of this period up on iTunes, but not this one. But it has been previously released on Criterion LaserDisc.

I was trying to figure if somehow The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog (i.e., London Fog raincoat) might fit, but that doesn't seem right.DeprongMori wrote:I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess Alfred Hitchcock's Secret Agent

All reasonable guesses.
I'll add The Strangers from "Dark City."

Well, I believe Kino lost the rights to all of the Haneke's, so it's possible...justeleblanc wrote:Been a while since I posted on this forum, but I think I've got it.

First thought was The Bespoke Overcoat- the question being the overcoat responding to someone speaking to it? Who knows.

There are like a million better ways to make a clue for Missing than that
