Yes, once the receiver is picked up to dial (even in mid-dial), it is "off the hook"......which has become a well-worn catchphrase of its own.1.) I'm trying to remember how rotary phones work but sticking the pencil in the dial when it's in mid-dial, would that have the same effect as leaving it off the hook?

Wow they actually admitted and fixed an error! Kudos are in order, though didn't they throw a tantrum and deny it at the time?

Yeah, they did -- now they need to start an exchange program for those of us who bought that first run of improperly mastered Blu-Rays. I'm not holding my breath. This would be an attractive box set if I didn't already own all of it that I want on Blu-Ray already.Drucker wrote:Wow they actually admitted and fixed an error! It's a great set for me, as I never upgraded my MOCs so I can keep them for the extras and get these for the Blu-ray transfers

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics Acquisitions
2 more titles from Twilight Time catalogue are getting releases from Kino Lorber on 12/12 - Inherit the Wind and Judgment at Nuremberg (Thunderbirds Are GO / Thunderbird 6 Double Feature is another such release). The first title isn't even OOP yet. So pay attention to Twilight Time films released by Kino Lorber on DVD (see "DVD-only releases" section in the first post) since they may eventually get a blu upgrade from them.

According to Mr. Lime, Kino is going to release Brannigan on Blu-ray and some other company/companies will be releasing the restored Annie Hall and Wild at Heart (he indicated that this one isn't coming from Criterion)

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics Acquisitions
I could see, of all of the labels with MGM connections besides Criterion, Arrow would probably have the most interest in Wild at Heart and after nabbing Ronin and the Apartment nothing seems out of reach for them.dwk wrote:According to Mr. Lime, Kino is going to release Brannigan on Blu-ray and some other company/companies will be releasing the restored Annie Hall and Wild at Heart (he indicated that this one isn't coming from Criterion)

It would be kine of weird considering they already did the boxes but it's perfectly feasible Arrow might be doing 4K Annie Hall and Manhattan as UK/US releases.

I guess I could see Wild at Heart coming from Arrow but it would be confusing considering it’s seemed as if Criterion would release all of Lynch’s films.

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics Acquisitions
Re: Lynch, Criterion seem to be waiting for studio licenses to expire so they can license from MK2, or whoever else might be the producer of the given film. I can see them waiting for MGM to lose Wild at Heart and then picking it up.

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics Acquisitions
I'm pretty sure Wild at Heart will eventually go to Universal, who acquired PolyGram (the original producers) in the late '90s. (Universal already has it in most territories.) Given that Criterion's relationship with MGM is bearing a lot more fruit these days than their relationship with Universal, waiting for MGM to lose the rights strikes me as a bad gamble, and I don't think that's what's going on here.

Considering Lynch and Criterion's relationship, it's hard for me to imagine this going anywhere else.

Well, whoever releases Wild at Heart, I really hope it's put out uncensored. Wish I'd never sold my VHS copy.

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics Acquisitions
Universal's purchase of the Polygram is for titles from about '96 on, so something like FARGO or FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL are owned by MGM in perpetuity. WILD AT HEART, being an independent production, is a bit different, with rights divided up among a few different companies. The Fanciful Norwegian wrote:I'm pretty sure Wild at Heart will eventually go to Universal, who acquired PolyGram (the original producers) in the late '90s.
