In a move that would surely leave Cassavetes absolutely embarrassed, if not furious, this will indeed be budgeted to the tune of $200 million, and will tentatively start shooting in February of next year

I didn't know Cassevetes was against having a budget. That's definitely new information.

I was involved with them so I know what they say. Still an absurd on its face argument placing words into someone's mouth who never would have said them.

Cassavetes would be made absolutely embarrassed, if not furious, by this because he was noteworthy for hating both flowers and moons.

In that case shouldn't he love a killer? My point proven.

I took Never Cursed's post as a joke in parroting a post doing just that verbatim, so the opposite of supporting this "on its face" argument and highlighting your very point

I’m sure Cassavetes is down in Hell having a good laff about all of this

Of course he did! People always forget that the second Z in ZAZ stood for Cassavetes

Sounds like Leo has been fighting the good fight on this one based on the articles on Deadline, Collider, and Indiewire about his arguments with Eric Roth on the screenplay. I am assuming Scorsese has the final say on what Eric does and doesn't have to change in the script.

Metro.co.uk mistakenly identifies the writer multiple times as Eli Roth in their report. Imagine that movie.Persona wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 6:10 pmSounds like Leo has been fighting the good fight on this one based on the articles on Deadline, Collider, and Indiewire about his arguments with Eric Roth on the screenplay. Re: Killers of the Flower Moon (Martin Scorsese, 2021)
Reading the book, which is all kinds of excellent, and in my opinion it's not difficult to see why this is so expensive. The massive cast and Scorsese-level art direction for a period piece with this kind of scope... those two elements alone are gonna cost a ton.
I am thrilled Leo is playing Ernest Burkhart. That is going to be so much more interesting than him playing Tom White, who I imagine they will now try to get another big name for that role. But I think this cast is going to be stacked.
There will need to be a lot of Native American casting and I hope they handle that well. Mollie Burkhart is going to be a major character and sadly the only casting popping to my mind as perfect for it is Q'orianka Kilcher.

Wondering if Scorsese might reunite with McConaughey for the Tom White role. A 40-something Texas Ranger turned dutiful FBI operative? He'd almost be too perfect for that.

Nice. She was easily the best thing about Reichardt’s movie. Also, I don’t think I’d heard Apple had picked this up

It's been a while since I read the book, but I believe Mollie Burkhart was in many ways the protagonist of the story.

Didn't Apple sign a deal with Scorsese's production company?

She is pretty central in the first section. Not as present during the section about the FBI investigation but has some key moments at the end of that part.allyouzombies wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 4:55 pmIt's been a while since I read the book, but I believe Mollie Burkhart was in many ways the protagonist of the story.
Will be interesting to see how the movie treats the character. Gladstone is excellent casting for it and somehow completely escaped my mind as a possibility.

Re: Killers of the Flower Moon (Martin Scorsese, 2021)
They signed a first-look deal last August, a few months after Apple grabbed this from Paramount. Paramount wanted to go back to the Eric Roth draft and also got antsy about the budget, but they'll still be distributing it theatrically.DandyDancing wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 7:08 pmDidn't Apple sign a deal with Scorsese's production company?

If there is one downside to First Cow (and that's a big if), it's that Gladstone's tiny role felt like a tease. She's too brilliant. I've wanted to see more of her since Certain Women, and I'm really happy to hear this news.

Lily is from Montana and her father Jack is a famous musician here. I've met him personally and was in a music video he made when I was younger. It should be interesting to see what kind of discussions this brings about Native Americans around the time of release. Looking forward to seeing Lily in this!
