I forget - have there been any instances of the secret titles selling out immediately? I know sometimes the low-stock stuff does, but I'm getting out of a movie at 1am and don't wanna miss the boat on something potentially cool. I feel like Freeway and eXistenZ were live for a while, but could be misremembering

Don’t really recall anything selling out that fast especially if it’s a Halfway to Black Title so you’ll most likely be fine.therewillbeblus wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 4:17 pmI forget - have there been any instances of the secret titles selling out immediately? The mystery titles: Invasion USA UHD and Criminally Insane / Satan's Black Wedding double feature Blu-ray. The two VSA releases are Lifeline UHD and The Instructor Blu-ray. The two VSA releases are limited to 5000 copies each.

I find it hard to believe that Vinegar Syndrome of all people didn’t see fit to include Crazy Fat Ethel 2 with Criminally Insane.

Even the Blu-ray.com forum’s cultists recognize this is a particularly lame lineup for something they’ve been hyping so heavily

I went ahead and ordered Lifeline because Johnnie To, but I do wonder if VS's ever increasing pricepoint is stopping people from ordering newer releases that they would have jumped on three or four years ago?

The Yellow Veil label has just put the soundtrack to Riddle of Fire up on their YouTube page.

Vinegar is releasing Riddle of Fire by themselves, I wonder why Yellow Veil didn't release it. Do they only own the soundtrack? Do people actually like the movie so Vinnie decided "oooh I'll take that"?

It’s a co-production between both companies, that’s why VS released it.What A Disgrace wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2024 12:38 pmVinegar is releasing Riddle of Fire by themselves, I wonder why Yellow Veil didn't release it. Has there been any official word about the Utopia/VS Blu-ray of We're All Going to the World's Fair finding another home? It appears to have vanished from the face of the earth, which is understandable considering the new film being in theaters, but is unfortunately inconvenient for me, the guy posting this.

I can't imagine Jane Schoenbrun releasing a new film people are connecting with, who are then seeking out her previous film, only to have that not available. If it is OOP, somebody will put it out again

Hope so. The US disc seems to have much more bonus content (Q&As, etc) than the UK one, so I'll continue to hold out. The film itself: chef's kiss. Really great. Goes for both of them, frankly.

I wouldn't be surprised if A24 scooped it for a more lavish release

So what you're saying is that I'll be spending $70 either way? Cool, cool.

Check the VS website when it comes back up tomorrow at noon for Partners Month. I know the slipcover version is gone, but I don't recall seeing the standard version on the OOP list.

Definitely going to - but they were both gone throughout the halfway to BF sale (and sold out everywhere else on the internet, did some UPC-crawling), so I'm going to keep my expectations low.

Re: Vinegar Syndrome et al.
Partner month has started, and sorry, but We're All Going to the World's Fair is indeed still sold out. A ton of new stuff up for pre-order though. Most of interest to my eyes:
Beijing Watermelon (Nobuhiko Obayashi)
Kamikaze '89 (Wolf Gremm)
Mister Lonely (Harmony Korine)
The Plot Against Harry (Michael Roemer)
Roadkill (Bruce McDonald)
Shanghai Triad (Zhang Yimou)
Six in Paris (Various)
The Sweet East (Sean Price Williams)

It's coming from Icarus Films, who are apparently new partners with VS

The Rouch segment in the film is the greatest short film ever made. If anyone needs needling to add it up their order (it’s the only thing I ordered - $39 with shipping, Jesus)
Icarus means we could get some Marker and more Rouch on Blu soon

Got that and The Sweet East (I even ordered the slipcover for the latter) - can't recommend these highly enough, the first almost solely for the Rouch segment domino champions above
