Nothing less than the Nick Cave treatment, or I'm out.

Donald Glover, Letitia Wright, Rihanna, and Hiro Murai have shot a movie called Guava Island in secret. Billed as "a Childish Gambino film," it's set for a 2019 release. There's no official announcement of the movie or trailer for it yet, but someone at a Glover festival in New Zealand was kind enough to put a trailer shown there on Twitter.

Scorsese is making a film about Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue. To be released by Netflix in 2019. A companion piece to No Direction Home no doubt but the big news is that Dylan agreed to be interviewed for the film!

Arnaud Desplechin's latest is Roubaix, une lumière, starring Léa Seydoux, Sara Forestier, and actor/director Roschdy Zem
IMDB wrote:A police chief in northern France tries to solve a case where an old woman was brutally murdered.

I'm hoping this film brings Prince to public attention. He's like a psychopathic video game villain made flesh.

Alex Ross Perry is joining Leigh Janiak (Honeymoon) and directing the second of three simultaneously-released films based on R.L. Stine's Fear Street books
Very into this choice, with Perry's installment involving class conflict interrupted by strange events at a summer camp in the late seventies. Wonder who they'll get to direct the closing film, a witchcraft story alternating between 1666 and 1994?

Perry is such a great choice to direct a movie about teens, I don't know why it never occurred to me until now

This is interesting news Nicolas Cage to star in Color Out of Space, the first new fiction film directed by Richard Stanley since Dust Devil (if you discount The Island of Dr Moreau), based on a H.P. Lovecraft tale.

That also makes me want to highlight some of the great work Elijah Wood and his production company SpectreVision are doing at the moment. They were behind Mandy, The Greasy Strangler and even had a go at videogame development Annapurna Pictures-style with that VR game Transference (Transference seems very much in the same vein as Observer, but that is an interesting style to try to follow in the tradition of and try and move into virtual reality)

Upgrade director Leigh Whannell will direct a stand-alone remake of The Invisible Man as Universal bails on the whole extended universe fiasco and hands their classic monster adaptations over to Blumhouse.

Zack Snyder will direct $90 million zombie action film Army of the Dead for Netflix.
"There are no handcuffs on me at all with this one,” Snyder tells The Hollywood Reporter in an interview...

"It will be the most kick-ass, self-aware — but not in a wink-to-the-camera way — balls-to-the-wall zombie freakshow that anyone has ever seen. No one’s ever let me completely loose [like this].”

But so what? It's a zombie movie. That trend has well been run into the ground what could he possibly show us that's going to say "this ain't your 2004's zombie movie or 2005 or 2006...." gore and slo-mo. I'd rather see his Fountainhead adaptation at least it'd be something new. "This ain't your daddy's Ayn Rand" cue slo-mo

Yep...and here it is. Shot last September for a May, 2019 release.

Color me excited especially since this will likely be the penultimate one.

Apologies if this has been mentioned previously but imdb says that Charles Burnett has a new film in the pipeline, at "announced" status, with the script having been finished: Edwin's Wedding

A new Burnett feature is overdue, even accounting for the usual five year gap between his previous features.

Alexander Payne's next film is horror-comedy The Menu.
