My one condition for participating in this sale was that I would finally get Love Me Tonight, but for Filibus I will forsake this condition and participate anyway.

Weird. Jess Franco's Female Vampire (a Redemption title) was part of the sale, but now the blu-ray isn't even listed on the site. That was a shoo-in for me, too.

Add another log to the "don't pre-order Kino Lorber discs" fire. Apparently the L/R channels are swapped on the surround mix for The Hard Target UHD:
Watch the train go by at 20:40, and as it moves from right to left, the audio moves from left to right. There are numerous other instances throughout the movie where there's directional activity that's not properly placed (motorcycles go whizzing by in the wrong direction etc.)

Reading this, it'd seem the 5.1 UHD track has an authoring issue while the 2.0 track just has a crappy source as a whole.

We QC'd it 13 times, there is nothing wrong with it....it is how John Woo wants it....it is what the studio gave us....all the reviewers gave it a glowing review we will not be offering a replacement....etc.

It’s still a numbers game overall, but given how few UHDs they’re counting on, you’d think at least those would be given some extra attention

I've seen this happen to other Redemption titles during sales. Thus far none have returned. Not sure if that's it for Kino selling them or if it's just a long wait for more copies. They can still be found on Amazon..

It usually means they're out of stock and expect to remain out of stock until after the sale is over.

They are releasing Bruno Dumont's 'France' in February, as well as a Josephine Baker Double Feature ('Princess Tam Tam' and 'Zou Zou').

Heh, that makes the refusal to do anything about the Silence of the Lambs issues an even bigger slap in the face. On that disc you have an image quality issue that is demonstrably a result of an error, and no sign of the original audio track.

Whilst Hard Target as far as we know has its original track (it may sound phasey, but there's been no suggestion it wasn't this way originally), and the 5.1 remix has a comparatively minor error (ultimately it can be fixed at home, by simply swapping the LS and RS cables at the AVR).

Not to mention the obvious, that SotL is a much bigger title!

I wonder if it’s a matter of Kino having to foot the bill to replace certain items or the studio that provided them with an incorrect master shouldering the responsibility.

It's much, MUCH easier to fix a flipping of the audio than it is to get a new HDR master. Especially since MGM would need to fix SotL, while Kino can likely fix the HT audio themselves without getting Universal involved, or at least just minimally involved.

2x 100GB UHDs would have been more than enough to fit 5 and a quarter hours of feature and minimal video extras on. Heck, a 100GB and a 66GB would suffice I bet. Kinda seems like an opportunity to inflate the RRP but eh, it won't stop me buying it. The annoying thing is all that spare space probably won't help much if they hire the same people to encode as they did Invasion of the Body Snatchers (their earlier discs are absolutely perfect, so they know someone out there who knows what they're doing!).

Yikes, $80 MSRP and available from Kino for $48 - that’s crazy.

"Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia" and "The Thing" have five different commentaries but are across multiple releases and not on one release.

Hot Fuzz has 5 commentaries on a single release.
