Did swimminghorses never come back after getting banned?

Well, he was banned, so "no," but if you're asking if he came back under a different account I have no idea. I doubt he has, though.

The craziest thing about the environment that raised swimminghorses, the Fantasy Criterion Covers thread, is that so many of the unlikely joke titles people made covers for have actually come to fruition in the collection, albeit usually with better art!

Will the "special packaging" include the rest of the letters?
That was indeed funny... but I think there is greater than 50% probability that in a Criterion design review there was a mock-up of the A... N... and E... being the covers of digipaks for the three blu-ray discs. If this comes to pass, don't hunt me down as I'm not an evil sorcerer.

Woof. Looks like somebody’s family photo of their dead Uncle Morty. He was such a character.

Ugh! This was so much better. What on earth could be the reason for the change?!

I much prefer the original. I wonder if they thought they'd sell more copies to Sandler's usual bro audience, if his face was slightly more recognizable and not partially obscured by his hand. Glad it'll be UHD though.

If you see the film as a portrait of a character, the new cover seems much more appropriate than the earlier, which seems more about an event that happens to that character. When I think of Howie, I think of him as a slimy but likeable schlemiel. That's what the new cover puts across to me. The new cover is for people who have already seen the movie, the old cover is for people who haven't—they want to find out, "What happened to that guy?"

The original cover is the same photo used for the Lionsgate Blu-ray. The covers were pretty similar (black background, same photo). It could be they decided having the cover look too much like the original Blu-ray would create too much consumer confusion.

The old one was an inferior version of the poster, the new one at least sucks in its own way
The extent to which it looks like a fake fan made cover is crazy though

How long do you think it will be until they're forced to change it back to the original? Or at least change the font to look less cheap?

That'd be my guess too.

They're also postponing the release, it'll be released alongside Kane. They could've taken the opportunity to reshuffle the spine numbers

I'll push back a little on your last sentence. As someone who hasn't seen this film yet the second cover is more revealing to me about the character than the first cover. So I'm totally in agreement with your take. My preference is the second (newer) cover

I'm confused as to why the characters' names on One Night in Miami... are so much larger than the actors'. Makes it look like a documentary.
