I hadn't tallied your list yet and had to scroll down to see WTF you could have voted for and had to admit your choice was a good one!

Re: The Horror List Discussion and Suggestions (Genre Project)
I'm worried that it might have been partially my decision to do my submission of fifty titles this time as a 'sequel' to the 2012 round of voting, discounting every film I voted for the last time around, secure in the feeling that everyone else would be voting for Alien, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, etc to balance it out a little. If you want I can substitute things back for my previous list instead!domino harvey wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 2:03 pmI can tell you right now that some horror movie fan web community will find this list and make fun of us... there are significant under-representations of very popular horror movies, many of which fared better last time. But I must preemptively remind anyone from the XXXL Black T-shirt Brigade that we are taste-makers, darling

One of the three films you mentioned garnered all of two votes, to give you some clue as to what is coming

I'm actually super excited about an idiosyncratic list, particularly if it includes a bunch of unique films I haven't seen yet.

It can be very hit and miss, but the funny bits are extremely good.swo17 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 3:52 pmI assume I can vote for Richard Ayoade's Garth Marenghi's Darkplace? I wish I'd realized this earlier to properly recommend it to everyone. It's basically a much more farcical take on the premise of Riget, which rather fittingly came out the same year as Stephen King's remake

If no else votes for Jaws and The Exorcist (which didn't seem to be too popular in the comments here), I'll be upset. But then it won't be the first time!domino harvey wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 1:26 pmI'm knee-deep in tallying and can confirm that this list is shaping up to be, uh, idiosyncratic

I didn’t even consider Jaws once under horror over the last six months, which means I must have looked right past my copy the several times I pulled movies out to view

First iteration of the project I looked at Alien as sci-fi so I didn't even consider it, which makes no sense to me now.

List should be coming within the hour. These 100 movie lists are killers, I forgot how long they take to compile and organize (I think it took me a couple days last time due to all the ballots). In the meantime, a moment of silence for the two members who had their number one pick orphaned...

Re: The Horror List Discussion and Suggestions (Genre Project)
When I was writing my list, I realized how many titles could lead to mistakes in tabulation if the year or director isn't mentioned, because there have so many remakes in this genre, often with the exact same title: Cat People, Carrie, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Dawn of the Dead, etc. etc. etc.

I hope you at least marked which Macbeth!
I just put the year next to mine, for while I don’t think anyone is going to vote for the ‘98 Psycho over the Hitch, there have got to be a lot of outlier opinions on the rest. I would vote for the Dawn of the Dead remake 50 films before the original (though neither made my list)

Fun fact while we all gape in amazement at Blackcoat's Daughter being that high: about one or two points separated spots 4-7, so really you might as well look at those as practical ties!

Re: The Horror List Discussion and Suggestions (Genre Project)
Thanks very much once again domino, hopefully not for the last time!
Great list, nice mix of the more conventional and the... less. Most of my Hammers got... hammered (and I didn't vote for Fisher's Dracula!) - not surprised since they were mostly in my bottom half.
With all the rave comments, I was expecting Rosemary's Baby to top the list, but it got near.

One more fun fact: Twixt qualified with the bare minimum possible, finishing at number fifty on two ballots (one of them mine-- my prediction of this becoming a cult classic never came to pass.... but there's still time to recognize the error of your ways, everyone)

A possible mistake, domino: Scream of Fear and Taste of Fear, orphans, if both 1961, are the same film.
