It should— there’s a copy of the DVD version on eBay that confirms it on the back cover, I imagine it’s the same for the Blu. I just ordered the Blu from DaaVeeDee
Thanks!

Does DaaVeeDee usually give you email confirmation/tracking updates? I never got one for my order, though I also didn't make an account, and wondering how they usually operate for deliveries. (I can't contact them because the verification codes aren't going through for me)

They only provide a tracking number if purchased via eBay.

I've been buying from them for nearly 20 years and have never had a single package go missing. Once a package was extremely late but that was during the early days of COVID. Most arrive within 3 weeks from the US to Australia.

If you make an account you can see your order status (it’ll say “shipped” when it’s sent out)— otherwise I never know if it’s coming, because they don’t send confirmation emails. If you need to reach out, their direct email is “info@“ their URL

Between ordering direct or via Amazon, I’ve also never had any issues, and unlike other foreign importers, he brings in a lot of stuff from France that you can’t find domestically anywhere else

The omnibus Retour à la vie is an interesting collection of takes from four different directors, including Clouzot, on the subject of the immediate post-war situation in France. Clouzot's segment was already on my radar from Tavernier's documentary, and indeed it and the comic entry immediately following it are the highlights. There is perhaps some modern political relevancy to the well-intentioned attempt (and ultimate failure) of Louis Jouvert to understand the internal motivations within the German torturer who winds up in his hotel room, so maybe now is as good a time as any to seek this one out. I liked the cute fourth segment, directed by Jean Dreville, the best though: Noel-Noel's decorated 1,500,000th POW (or, rather, 1,499,999th...) comes home only to discover his landlady has rented out his apartment, all his friends are busy, his wife has left him for another man, and he's been burdened with a cheap commemorative statue that he must lug around from location to location. The detached, unflappable even keel of the protagonist in this entry perhaps shows the best of any of these segments what five years of capture might do to a man-- no protestation, no disappointment, just immediate adaptation to whatever is occurring. Perhaps also a lesson for modern times in there somewhere

Miquette et sa mere already arrived! And I can confirm it has English subs.

The only issue is that - as opposed to some films where the mix is much lower volume on "cinema" mode on my LG soundbar - this film is absolutely silent on that setting, and I had to switch to any other for the sound to come through (gave me a scare for a sec!) - so if you have a similar set-up, be advised

That would be among the most amazing Criterion bonuses ever! Shall we send Jon Mulvaney an email?

Here are some snippets of this documentary, which includes Romy Schneider's breathtaking fantasmagoric rushes from the unreleased l'Enfer:

Despite being "just" five minutes of rushes, it's breathtaking. I'm reminded of Hitchcock's use of color in his hallucinatory films. (To get straight to the L'Enfer rushes, use the skip key.)
