I pulled this out to show my kids tonight, and was dumbstruck at how truly awful the design of this DVD set is.

Not sure if this was ever posted (came out in 2015) but good lord: a Sims-version of Roger Moore de-aged a couple decades!

Yeah that cover is just one of the posters. But it's a bad poster, one for the "Oddly Non-Prominent Title" Hall of Fame.

I feel like “MEL & GOLDIE” was a much more effective marketing hook 30 years ago than it is now.

Eh, I think that cover is exactly what it needs to be for that film. Also, it's a kind of a cute parody of the Lethal Weapon poster:

I never noticed how convoluted Lethal Weapon's tagline was until now

Speaking of convoluted taglines, I discovered this poster for Written on the Wind over the weekend and, despite having seen the film, had to create a mental flow chart to understand what it was saying!

The Mel & Goldie line has me feeling nostalgic for when stars would sell movies alone. Alas.

Agreed. Its baffling to me how franchises sell more than movie stars now.

"P is the father of Q and S is the son of R. T is the brother of P and has a daughter U. If R is the sister of P, then what is the relation between U, Q and S?"
SpoilerShow
Parent of Q is P.
Parent of U is T.
Parent of S is R.

This means that T is P is brother and R is P is sister.

Thus, U, Q and S are cousins.

You like them enough to put them out, but this is the cruel back of the hand the art department metes out, Film Movement?

"Mmmmm... I'm in more of a yellow mood to be honest."

"Whatever. As long as it doesn't have subtitles."

Culture Shock just hinted that they're releasing THE DEATH COLLECTOR on blu, which is Joe Pesci's first film. Here is the UK DVD cover:

I kinda admire that they're not revealing anything by it at least, I can't think of a better idea for cover art (not that this is good)

I remember liking one of the posters...

EDIT: This one, which would be much better, and removing the tagline would keep the mystery intact:

That's a pretty good poster, but it feels more misleading than the admittedly worse one which at least gets the underlying tone right. However, part of the fun of the film is being unprepared for its mood shifts, so yeah, I'd take it. The studio is clearly trying to sell it as a more serious dramatic awards contender, so I wonder if that helps inform the decision to release the current stripped-back empty one.
