I haven't seen Farewell Amor yet, but of the four I have, The Piano is the most thematically interesting and I want an excuse to open my UHD copy from the March sale

I voted Dick Johnson just because it’s easy for me to see.

That’s the only one I actively don’t like or feel anything for, though I know it has its fans here

Re: Pick some films
I voted or Menace II Society because I've long wanted to see it, but part of me is curious to watch the Zeman film and compare it to Gilliam's Munchausen film, which has long been a favourite of mine.

Re: Pick some films
Well you’ve convinced me to vote for the Zeman, easily my favorite of the bunch but one I didn’t think would drum up fruitful discussion until you drew that parallel. If it wins, I’d take the opposite approach though- I’ve seen the Zeman many times over the last few years and would rent the Gilliam for the film project to compare

If it was the Fairbanks/Walsh THIEF OF BAGDAD, I'd go with that, but I suspect it's that other one on the agenda.

Richard Franklin’s Psycho II shouldn’t work, but it’s phenomenally well-made and creative. No mere retread of the original, it really expands on the themes of Hitchcock’s while showing Franklin’s unique visual flair and sense of humor.

Re: A Halloween Vote
It's great, I just revisited it the other day after only six months since my initial viewing and still loved it. It's hard for me to see it as having any relationship to the original though. The film admirably goes in an entirely new direction, and is all the better for it
Either film would yield interesting discussion, but I think the Cohen is richer

Re: A Halloween Vote
It’s been overinflated in value in recent years precisely because it is somehow not a trainwreck, but Psycho II is an enjoyable unnecessary movie.
Can’t imagine knowingly trying to watch I Spit on Your Grave, and I say this as someone who already did precisely that

Re: A Halloween Vote
I’m most curious about Who Can Kill a Child?, but I’d probably watch any of these in the holiday spirit
