Re: Arrow: Cheapest Prices/Best Places to Buy/Pre-Orders/Deals
One of my best friends just got his first region free player, so I let him know about this sale. He loves The Apartment, The Burbs, and Carrie. For people in his shoes this would be lovely. For people on this forum definitely a big meh.

Arrow's Easter sale is starting on March 30, and will be introducing some 'Back-in-Stock' items along with some hidden surprises.

Sale is on but it's frustrating to see several previously discounted Second Run titles (Black Peter, Ikarie XB 1) aren't included.

Does anybody know, what are the hidden surprises?

Some of the discounts aren't too big - I'd double check with other vendors before pulling the trigger.

I'd check again, I'm only a few pages into scrolling and see Ikarie XB 1 discounted, as well as basically every Second Run release except for the mentioned Black Peter and the only one I wanted, Tomorrow I'll Wake Up and Scald Myself with Tea

Crap, some stuff sold out already, specifically Vitalina Varela and Time Bandits.

Re: Arrow: Cheapest Prices/Best Places to Buy/Pre-Orders/Deals
Isn't that usually the case, though? Each sale has different Second Run titles rotate in and out, the Arrow titles bounce back and forth between 10 and 8 pounds.
Am I the only one finding the "Standard Edition" versions of box sets confusing? I guess I've bought into the Indicator process of limiting the box and then splitting them up. As Arrow did with American Horror Project, only now that's a set again. (Was someone overjoyed to be able to buy Malatesta's Carnival of Blood on its own?) Had not been paying attention when they released a downgraded version of the Boro box, which is great for those who didn't want to mortgage the farm to get the old set off eBay, but maybe not so great for everyone who'd bought all those discs individually in the interim. I guess they're finding out what works, but I know at some point I'm going to get blindly excited that, say, Cinema of Conflict is back in stock only to figure out on arrival that it's the version without the book(*) and maybe dropped a disc or something.
(*) It's never a real Arrow release until it's available without a booklet.

You're not the only one- I remember when the later Woody Allen collections came back as bundled sets after being broken up and sold individually a few years ago (which is how I purchased those later films and was irritated to no end for how it affected my shelf organization)

Which US retailer do you guys recommend for Arrow releases (I no longer live in Scotland but WA State - doesn't look like I can update my profile location?)? I was going to wait for the B&N sale in June/July and then Arrow's email popped up. Arrow's US link leads to Grindhouse, never heard of these guys.

IME, Arrow's releases are always cheaper direct from Arrow during their sales than during any US retailer's sales.

Arrow has also linked to DiabolikDVD from whom I've ordered a few times and had no problems.

Thank you, guys. I'm just adding some UK discs to my shopping cart, see what it adds up to and if they ship to WA.

You weren't kidding. 3 UK titles at £8 apiece plus delivery worked out at $44 (The Possessed, Hold Back The Dawn and Hotel Du Nord). Mad Fox should be cheaper still in a year or so, REC and the Imamura set weren't included yet ($50 for the latter in the US even at sale price?).

I've had no problem with Grindhouse in the past, can't say the same about Diabolik.

Is there a way to know if we’re getting a first pressing before ordering?

Re: Arrow: Cheapest Prices/Best Places to Buy/Pre-Orders/Deals
Arrow's website is doing my head in. I kept getting stuck on the Delivery Details page. I'd entered the correct phone number for the US, I'd ticked the age verification check box and yet it never proceeded to the Review and Pay page. I've restarted my laptop and cleared the cache on Firefox, and I even selected my old UK address to see if that does anything, but nope! It loaded and still stayed on the same page. Resorted to Chrome as a last resort and it worked on there. At least I still had bonus points which I could apply. Only stuck to 3 titles as Eureka probably have their own sales coming up.

It's maddening, I agree. You have to enter the numbers in the format indicated, even if that means leaving out some of the digits of your number. For example, 20 704 6421.

Either Diabolik or Grindhouse. Grindhouse Video's run by one guy, and he's really good at his job. Unlike fdm, I've had no issues on either front, though to Australia I find the latter's a little more reasonable on postage.
