So are we to think that this won't contain Schrader's commentary from the old UK disc? Good reason to hold on to that Momentum DVD then (I don't know if this was on any other releases too).

I've already emailed Indicator inquiring about the Schrader commentary. Hopefully I'll hear something back.

UPDATE: Received a reply stating "The producer at Powerhouse Films has assured that the extras will be finalised with a full and final announcement nearer the release date."

Indicator just posted on Instagram a behind-the-scenes shot of how they were filming a Paul Schrader interview while respecting social distancing. (No crew is visible, just gear.) It's also outdoors with bright autumnal foliage, like it was shot yesterday, so perhaps the extras are still being created.

And hopefully they have more Schrader titles lined up if they're going to all that trouble! At least Auto Focus will be on the cards, I assume. American Gigolo would be even better!

I would be happy if any label would put out Light of Day, but I think I may be one of its few fans. Without hyperbole, Michael J. Fox' best acting.

I'd go with Secret of My Success as Fox's best.

I like it as a movie about a struggling band on the road, as I'm partial to films that mine similar subject matter like Half Cocked and
Hard Core Logo, but I was less taken with the family drama aspects of it. Joan Jett is very solid in it as well, although Schrader
has repeatedly echoed remarks that she was miscast.

This is all thread split material of course but it still seems to me that for Fox's acting work, and the demands laid upon him, Casualties of War cannot be bettered.

I just remembered, the Brooklyn Academy of Music screened this again in mid-February of 2011 when they were programming a Susan Sarandon tribute, and Schrader appeared with Sarandon for a Q&A for this film. The 2008 screening Q&A with Schrader and Lachman was probably more interesting - the only thing I vaguely remember from Schrader and Sarandon's Q&A was that the ring used in the film came from Schrader as it belonged to one of his exes prior to his relationship with Mary Beth Hurt (they were already together and are still married). Sarandon and the moderator's response was something like, "you were still holding on to that? How did your wife feel about that?"

Surprised this was mixed in mono. The soundtrack is pretty great, but is extremely hard to find. Hopefully if this gets a full-measure AV overhaul a new edition can come out. Does Lionsgate own this in the US?
