In an effort to combat this stupid situation, Fox Searchlight has confirmed that the film's runtime is locked as of now, and it's 1 hour and 48 minutes.

Guessing Cannes is a pretty safe bet:
When it comes to more concrete details, Variety reported today the $25 million shoot lasted six months. (In comparison, The Grand Budapest Hotel was a similar budget, but the shoot only lasted around three months, further fueling these runtime rumors.) The trade also reports the film is expected to premiere at one of the European film festivals this year and “a collective of Angouleme-based cartoonists will release a graphic novel detailing their own experiences with the shoot.”
Pretty darn impressive to keep a six month shoot for a film with this level of production value down to a $25 million budget.

So they’re saying the film will be in two parts, one an hour long and the other 48 minutes, excellent

Anderson and Faber & Faber will publish a version of The French Dispatch's screenplay, which has a release date set on Amazon for May 21, suggesting that the film will follow a similar release schedule (Cannes, then worldwide shortly after) as Moonrise Kingdom. Goodreads' preliminary entry for the book gives a synopsis of the film:
The French Dispatch is the European edition of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun - a factual, weekly report on the subjects of world politics, the arts (high and low), fashion, fancy cuisine/fine drink, and diverse stories of human-interest set in faraway quartiers. On the death of the Editor -in-Chief, the editorial staff decide to publish a last, memorial edition highlighting the three best stories which appeared over the ten-year existence of the magazine. The stories involve an artist sentenced to life imprisonment for a double homicide; student riots, and a kidnapping resolved by a chef. The film stars Wes Anderson regulars: Bill Murray, Jason Swartzman, Owen Wilson and Tilda Swinton, as well as newcomers Timothee Chalamet and Elisabeth Moss. The screenplay has the wit and imagination that has made Anderson's previous films, like The Grand Budapest Hotel and Isle of Dogs such unique cinematic experiences.

Wes Anderson’s THE FRENCH DISPATCH has been rated “R” for “graphic nudity, some sexual references and language.”

Might be a coincidence, but it's neat that this information is coming out on Kansas Day.

At this point every post in this thread is setting up a joke about the 4 hour cut

I'm intrigued by Hugo Guinness's contributions to the story considering as far as I know his role has primarily been a visual artist and a voice actor credit in FMF

He also has a story credit on Grand Budapest Hotel (and was nominated for the Original Screenplay Oscar along with Anderson)

Anderson has gathered together a book of journalistic inspirations to accompany the film, An Editor’s Burial

Wow; Criterion already has a future cover. Chalamet gets to play 20th century Marat.

The slopes, ramparts and skyline of Angoulême has been engagingly captured. It was probably these elements that attracted Mr Anderson.

In a small part that has apparently been excised in the editing room or is uncredited - this has already been discussed within this thread, FYI

I can confirm that Winslet does not appear in the final cut but unsure if she appeared in footage that was cut.
