At the end of this interview, Robbie Robertson reveals he’s doing the music for the film which is no surprise given their ongoing working relationship, but Robertson is half Native American and he’s been exploring his roots for quite some time. This could be the most personal work he’s done for Scorsese.

In DiCaprio's old role, it seems?

I believe this is the last big part for the film, right? I loved Landry as much as anyone but surely no one saw him being one of the two most meteoric actors post Friday Night Lights (Michael B Jordan of course was a very obvious future star from the jump)

I'm hearing that, even with the rearranging necessitated by Leo switching parts, Plemons and Gladstone are the leads of the movie, which is a wonderful bait-and-switch for people expecting a Heat-esque meeting of the two Scorsese leads.

Good for him. Been deeply impressed with Plemons ever since he took Friday Night Light's worst storyline and delivered something quite affecting albeit wholly inappropriate for the series.

I've liked him ever since The Master (didn't watch Friday Night Lights), but his performance in Game Night pushed me into being an even bigger fan, that's one of the great comedic performances of last decade.

I hope you can get to FNL one day, but I agree that Game Night was something else, and a performance that deserved more year-end recognition. Not sure I laughed harder that year than his line delivery of "How can that be profitable for Frito-Lay?"

He 100% deserved an Oscar nomination for Game Night

It may be a weird comparison, but his trajectory from my vantage point has been a lot like Adam Driver's, where I saw them each in their respective TV appearances and didn't think "Star" yet they continued to surprisingly get these great opportunities and then actualize their skills across a far more versatile plane than I expected to earn that stardom. I love these cases where some talent scout sees what I can't and their expertise is right, because the louder examples are usually the ones where we all see a star that never materializes due to injustice, but that speaks more to a problem-focused lens than data.

That headline, calling it "Apple's 'Killers of the Flower Moon'" instead of "Scorsese's 'Killers of the Flower Moon'", seems like a pretty solid troll move on Deadline's part.

I get the point in light of his recent comments, but using the studio is a common identifier

Plemons is a real inspired pick for White.

So stoked.

It appears that Plemons passed on starting in Jordan Peele’s next film to do this- the guy’s in high demand, perhaps especially impressive after Peele claimed he’d never cast a white guy in the lead of one of his films a couple years back, though for all we know the part specifically calls for it

Scorsese and DiCaprio were in OK this week to meet with Osage leaders to presumably gather details on the culture from the era depicted

They apparently gave a presentation to a number of people to go over what the goal of the film was. From what I understand Tribal Leaders were pleased and gave Scorsese all manner of permissions. Considering how often stories with Native Americans aren't very respectful it was nice to see Scorsese went the extra mile here.

Mollie's family members have been cast. Tantoo Cardinal will play Lizzie.

Niiiiice - love Sturgill and I've liked Isbell ever since his days with Drive-By Truckers. (His own album, The Nashville Sound, is a favorite.)

I didn't see many trades picking up that point and running with it, but I think as soon as this project was announced, lots of fans aware of his passion for Westerns (particularly for The Searchers) realized the significance of it. There's a Charlie Rose interview from the '90s where he asked him, why not make a Western? Scorsese didn't hesitate and said the subject was too removed for him, but obviously that's changed. In that way it feels apiece with Hugo, The Irishman and Silence, where he's doing films that make more sense when you consider his age: someone very aware that he has a limited amount of time left, so he's looking back at his career, re-evaluating his past work, and even re-evaluating cinema and its past.

His run over the last two decades, in his 60s and 70s no less (and now about to hit 80 for this project), is truly an inspiration.

Scorsese already made a western years ago: 'Casino'

While I am pretty excited to see this movie storywise, I am a little worried about the budget thing. I liked "The Irishman" but I did think it was too long and a bit self-indulgent. Which was only made possible by it's enormous budget. Scorsese's best in the 2010s was "Silence", in my opinion, which "coincidentally" also had the lowest budget.
