With all the other excitement around here, we somehow missed the biggest film news of the day: Jay and Silent Bob Reboot

It's becoming very clear that this is all Smith is ever gonna do anymore, cast his buddies in some retread - but does it have to have such a shitty title? This does look like it has, considering the cast and the slick look, the chance to be the sort of thing to make Kevin Smith the mainstream definition of "cool" again for a while, provided it is even halfway well made

J&SB are the worst things in any of those films (Clerks, Dogma) and their own film is terrible!

Sorry? I've read your post a few times and am just not sure what you're referring to.

On the forum, don't think it was in this sub section.

It's literally on this page, dda, that I commented on that movie, I'm not sure what other info you need

Never mind. That's the effects of lack of sleep. I somehow read the quote as an actual post and thought it was just posted in this forum. My mistake!

First time I can remember a movie being split off into its own thread because of an Abbott & Costello routine

Jay and Silent Bob were really popular when I was in 8th Grade and High School, right around the time people my age discovered weed. I won't lie to you, Jay and Silent Bob was really funny at three in the morning surrounded by other people or if I was sitting alone in a basement. But past that I imagine the novelty has worn off at twenty eight.

Now, if Smith can make a film self aware enough to riff on himself I imagine this could be a nice way to spend and afternoon out. But I don't really even want to hedge my bets.

Took one for the team tonight ... oof.

This movie is so bizarrely self-referential that it would almost be interesting if it weren’t so terrible. Except the movie know it’s terrible, or at least it constantly tells the audience that (and at one point literally insults the audience, with a wink of course). It’s also the first mainstream film that I know of to tackle the issue of honour killings in Muslim societies - in an actual serious moment, no less. I can’t believe I just typed that, but it’s true. Honestly, I wasn’t entirely sure what I was watching half the time. Die hard s only, would be my advice.
