Re: Severin Films
Severin's August slate
Cannibal Man
No One Heard the Scream
Eloy de la Iglesia’s Quinqui Collection (Navajeros, El Pico, El Pico 2)
Overboard (disappointing that the only extra is an interview with the screenwriter.)

The Quinqui Collection sounds quite interesting. Has anyone here seen the films included?

"NOTE: WE WON'T BE RELEASING FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN."
Wonder why not/who is.

I believe there was reasonable speculation it would be coming from Vinegar Syndrome this Fall.

Re: Severin Films
Yes they've confirmed they'll be releasing a mystery title in a UHD/3D-BD combo set so Flesh for Frankenstein definitely fits the bill.
But so does Paul Naschy's Frankenstein's Bloody Terror (aka The Mark of the Wolfman).

I wonder how they finally got this licensed, as David Gregory has been saying for years that Paul Morrissey would not license it.

When are Severin and VinSyn going to become bitter rivals?
It's a bit strange that they're only going to debut the title midway through the sale. I wonder what makes the slipcover "unpromotable?" Maybe it's one of those films that bills itself as part of an unrelated franchise, like Terminator 2 (Shocking Dark) and Jaws 5 (Cruel Jaws), both of which they also did with extremely limited slips.

Re: Severin Films
Could also be due to subject matter too, like The Devil's Honey cover where a guy a blasting a sax straight into a woman's genitalia, agnamaracs wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 3:05 pmWhen are Severin and VinSyn going to become bitter rivals?

Re: Severin Films
They promoted that The Devil's Honey cover. I think agnamaracs is correct, it is likely some Italian film that was marketed as a sequel to some unrelated film.

Oops, thanks for correcting. Whoever is releasing FfF hopefully they can utilize the 3-D method.

Re: Severin Films
His politics had nothing to do with it. It was because of money.
New Times: Flesh for Frankenstein was shot in 3-D, so you plan to release it on Blu-ray 3-D?
Paul Morrissey: Oh, I do. But I want to do it myself with streaming. Look, I've been the movie business for over 50 years, and I've done everything imaginable that could be done or ever was done by anybody. I did, in not only making the films entirely by myself, in every step of the way, the early films, including photographing them--everything! But I've distributed some of them myself, and I've sold them over the years to DVD people who put them out, and they give me a little money in advance, and then for the next five or six years I never see a penny. I'm no longer going to go to other companies. Instead I have at least 10 or 12 films that I intend to stream, so that anybody wants to see them, they pay me whatever the hell they pay, not companies that don't bother to give you any results (laughs). It's not a fun business to be in.

So.... he either got stuck with shitty contracts or didn't read or fully understand them? I mean getting royalties is a pretty big thing to clear up before lending out rights or he has just dealt with shitty companies.

Re: Severin Films
As many of you have inquired about FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN, we can confirm that an exclusive 4K restoration of the original 3D negative is underway and will be released soon by another American label.

Re: Severin Films
Given Joe Rubin of Vinegar Syndrome has been working with Severin on a number of their recent releases, I’d say that’s pretty unlikely.agnamaracs wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 3:05 pmWhen are Severin and VinSyn going to become bitter rivals?
In the event Flesh For Frankenstein is VinSyn’s upcoming 3-D release (which seems like a good bet), I won’t be surprised to find that both labels have collaborated on the two films.

I know Vinegar Syndrome is based on the east coast, but I think they share some office space in Los Angeles with Severin.

Re: Severin Films
Well, it’d get a bit uncomfortable if they became “bitter rivals”, then.
