Nothing I would hate more than to see that getting nominated. Marvel doesn't need to be legitimized. Would love to see Jenkins triumph again though

Interesting how little overlap there will be this year with the Oscars-- Beale Street is the only likely top film to be nominated in Best Picture, unless we see a Phantom Thread-style sneak surge for First Reformed

It's always amazing when someone like Tapley, who should know better(?) is confused when the banal tastes of some of our greatest artists are brought to the fore. Anderson hasn't said a bad word about anyone else's work since what seems like his comments on Fight Club, and is probably friendly with Krasinski. A Quiet Place remains a terrible movie that would be a black mark on the academy if it is nominated in anything beyond Sound Mixing

Considering Maya Rudolph starred with John Krasinski in Away We Go, it's not unreasonable to think they're prob friends

Howard Stern and his wife go on vacations with Krasinski and Blunt - the guy definitely has quite the Rolodex, which makes sense because he seems excessively pleasant

Wow, is that an uninspiring, middlebrow set of awards, even for NBR. If this is where awards season is heading despite the number of worthy candidates this year, the disconnect between quality and recognition will look even more striking than usual in 5-10 years.

NBR usually only bats .500 on Best Picture, so you can pretty quickly figure out which titles to discard going forward

Certainly that's a more compelling animated choice though I'm hoping something like Have a Nice Day or The Night is Short, Walk on Girl pulls through.

This is getting me hopeful about some Golden Globe/Oscar noms for First Reformed.

Not that the awards matter in and of themselves but barely anyone in the U.S. watched that movie... and they need to. Whatever positive attention it can get, I hope it happens.

With the NBR Awards, I am trying to understand Roma not being grouped with Foreign Language Films but being in the Top Films? Because Netflix produced?
