Has anyone ever used discshop.se? I can't find anything about international shipping and the respective costs, but then, the site seems to be in Swedish only, anyway...

Yes, I have. They're very good. They ship to the UK, with reasonable shipping charges, so I assume they ship to Germany too.
Here are their shipping charges. Para 2.2 shows K100 per item , I think.

Thank you, tojoed. If I make correct sense of the Swedish, they charge 100 kr for up to 4 products (about 10,60 Euros). Not super cheap, but allright for me. Must get those Greenaways in any case. I only hope that the subs are removable or at least not burnt-in.....

Tommaso, this is the cheapest Swedish site that ships these titles internationally at the moment. You can compare blu-ray prices
here.

Discshop.se have shipped my Baby of Macon BD, but not the Prospero's Books BD. They now show the latter's release date as "uncertain", and some other retailers have taken it off their sites. Atlantic's own page is so far unchanged. The DVD version of Prospero seems to have been released as planned.

Can anyone confirm that the Blu of Baby of Macon will be all-region? (Apologies if this has already been determined).

I guess the more recent posts were lost, but two new PG releases, DVD and Blu-ray editions of
The Baby of Mâcon and
Prospero's Books were due out today (18 August 2010) from Atlantic Film in Sweden.
The large BD artwork and specs for
The Baby of Mâcon have been posted on the Atlantic Film
web site. The hi-res covers and info for
Prospero's Books have not yet appeared.
The Baby of Mâcon is set to appear on Blu-ray in its OAR of 2.35:1 in 1080p on a BD-25 with English DD 2.0 audio, and Swedish, Danish, Finnish and Norwegian subtitles. Regional coding is unknown. The R2 DVD has been announced with the same audio and subtitle options.

Thanks for this, McC. Hopefully someone can report back on the region coding and the quality of the transfer.

Subdvd seems to be the only online retailer offering worldwide shipping for the recent PG releases.

This is quite concerning. It's now past release day, few stores even have listings for the discs, let alone show stock, and the
Prospero's Books BD has disappeared from the Atlantic Film listings and can only be found directly at
this link. Note that the
DVD listing is far more complete. It would seem that, if anything,
Prospero's Books is now DVD-only...

You may not lose much. Atlantic Film is notorious for weak BD releases.
Requiem for a Dream was no better than the DVD, with
Hunger they also messed up with the audio. And the list goes on. They haven't put out a good BD yet (only average or bad).

Short email reply from Atlantic confirms that Prospero's Books will not be released on BD.
The Baby of Macon BD looks great to me. I have no way of confirming the region code though.

Ola, any chance you might be able to provide us with a few video captures?

I found a Finnish shop,
Record Shop X, that claims to ship worldwide, takes PayPal and supposedly has some copies of
The Baby of Mâcon. It's also the most English-friendly Nordic site I've ever seen in my life, they even have an American-style address field (!) The price is reasonable but the shipping seems too good to be true--€2,90 shipping for a total of €20,80 (~ US $27) shipped to the USA--
so please proceed with caution!

The images they show are clearly some poster art, and the subtitles mentioned are also not the same as on the Atlantic website. That doesn't mean anything, and it might well be that these are the Swedish releases indeed. But I'm not really sure. Anyone here who knows that e-tailer?

I ordered a CD from that Finnish shop earlier this year and it was fine. And yes, shipping was 2.90 euros.

I'm pretty sure what they're selling is the old grey market bootlegs (close to unwatchable),
not the new Atlantic product. As stated above, the subtitles and cover art are completely different.

The cover art is an English-language (possibly American) poster for the film. And I'd be curious as to why they are selling separate Blu-ray and DVD editions at separate prices. Almost nowhere else other than Discshop--which only ships to the EU--is claiming any stock or has accurate cover art. I will send Record Shop X an e-mail and ask them to photograph the item for me.

That is just rubbish. You can deal with Levykauppa X without hesitations. (But I do not guarantee that Atlantic's release is any good, see above).

In this case the Swedish release is same as the Finnish release.

Now it would seem that no one has any stock of The Baby of Mâcon BD. This is somewhat frustrating...

You can buy it in MEGASTORE (Swedish covers):
http://www.megastore.se/template/next%2 ... id=2236408" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
or in a Danish cover art (21/9 2010):
http://www.laserdisken.dk/html/visvare. ... 8450034831" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I have a Finnish version, and I have tested it. It plays in region A and B (probably region free)
The quality is OK, tough I have only tested it a HD ready TV. In the beginning there are some low level noise, but the image is sharp! The best digital version I have seen of the film!

Thanks! At least for the SD versions (and there's no alternative for "Prospero" now), the Danish shop seems to be the cheapest. As to the "Macon" disc: how about the subs? Are they completely removable?
