Thanks for the tip, though they appear to have limited availability of titles. It seems we're still in the dark about whether B&N is going to have their July sale?

I'd be very surprised if the July B&N sale didn't happen

True, you have to act fast, but I don't think they have any limits on preorders, and they have all of those through July plus Comfort of Strangers

Same, at least online I would hope. Though I just called my local store and they didn't seem optimistic after checking with their supervisor, at least for in-store. That doesn't mean anything, just not assuring.

Swo17, thank you for the heads-up about the Target sale! I just ordered pretty much my entire Criterion, Arrow Academy and Shout Factory wishlist off that sale.

I imagine we'll have that sale on the 29th, because of Elephant Man, as they usually do these things when a big title is around. I can't imagine they'll wait an entire month for the next major release, which is Parasite.

Counterpoint: It's been the third week of October for the past four years, and been in October generally since the great Eraserhead delay of 2014.

Reminder that based on the last few years, it’s highly likely that there will be a Criterion Store sale next Tuesday

I think they'll line it up with Parasite right before the B&N instead, but I hope you're right

I just got an email with a $10 discount code for being a Criterion Channel subscriber, so I assume the Flash Sale is coming next week based on last year’s timing.

I am surprised that no one else has mentioned Tues Nov 3rd as a likely candidate for sale day. Criterion has no scheduled releases planned for that date. Of course the 24-hour flash sales have begun on other days than Tuesdays in the past, but how many times has it been now where the Criterion site itself crashes or has issues during both a sale-day and a release of new title day? If Criterion was smart, they would have the sale Nov start 3rd since they have no new releases coming that day and Nov 3rd is Election Day here in the US so there might be lower traffic volume, less scheduled announcements on their site, less page updates needed, anything to cut down on their continued site problems during the flash sale.

That’s during the month of the B&N sale though, so why would they compete with their own business when they can just make more money outside of that window?

Has anyone ever done an Election Day sale? Seems like a recipe for disaster. Also ethically dubious.

I'm not sure what the analytics say about holding big sales on days you expect the least customers. I imagine it's not great!

I would like to know more about why it's unethical to have a sale on election day. Too many people buying Secret Honor?

This is a silly debate because there is 0% chance Criterion holds a sale during the BN sale period

People are going to be so busy buying Criterions they're not going to see who won.

People will be buying Criterions... that they'll get so sick of buying Criterions.

so... sale on tuesday? seems like a couple days or so prior we usually have a few people who've gotten word on it
