Sorting by format AND label. Obviously one of us.
Box Sets still in their shrink wrap as he hasn't had the time to crack them open.
Truly one of us.

Or he could be like me and cut open the side of the box set to access the discs whilst still leaving most of the box covered in (now semi-protective) plastic.

I await the day we find an auteur with a shelf like Eli Cash's stack of VHS tapes.

Between this and Edgar Wright, it’s crazy how many of these directors seemingly never upgrade their DVDs

Mad lad appears to be shelving by surname of director at head level, but the others don’t seem to support that.
Spotted AE DVD of what appears to be Berbarian Sound Studio by his left arm.

I thought about this a little, and how there's stacks of photo books available with people's personal vinyl collections (or fill in the blank, whatever), and I'm surprised there isn't one for film industry people. I'd hanker that it would grate some to find that, yes, some industry people either don't have time to upgrade (always pushing focus into the next thing), like most famous cooks still use legitimately crappy equipment at home to yield superb, award winning meals. Actors (Michael Shannon, Mark Rylance, for example) seem to be towing this line - as the importance of direct experience with art (in a theater, on a stage) is more valuable to the breadth of their working life, so the vessel when it comes to home viewing isn't so important. With newer releases, a majority of are available for streaming within the industry (especially around this time of year), and most of which I can assume are being viewed on devices in transit to other projects, let alone wall-sized 4K UHD-ready home screens in Hollywood, CA.
Then again, there are the outliers like PTA or Tarantino (maybe Nolan?) that own screening rooms for actual 35mm prints, so I'd imagine their consumer disc keyvips are stalled one way or the other. I'd love for all actors to be like Tracy Letts, but remember: he gave up drinking to focus on disc collecting 25 years ago, and I don't think most famous actors of his generation (or any?) would have that kind of discipline (it might help that he enjoys watching films, as well as writing & acting in them, as well). Some people don't want to take their work home with them is all I'm saying, much like Frank Tashlin painted in his personal time for himself as a respite from it all ](*,)
