Perhaps those titles are more likely, but I was thinking "Spartacus" because of MoC's deal with Universal.

Oh Lord. Watching Universal's release of Spartacus, I very much hope Masters of Cinema are doing it. The current disc is a total piece of crap.

A satisfactory blu-ray release for Spartacus is a large scale project that requires new 6k scan of restored 65mm elements, which is beyond MoC's financial and technical ability, I think, unless Universal does such job and license it to MoC (I highly doubt).

We've uprezzed the Criterion DVD and added faux-grain in 1080p. Looks sweet!

But isn't Spartacus the only Kubrick that's a Universal title?
Mind you, this could have nothing to do with the Universal deal, of course.

There's also the option that MoC just wanted a picture of Kubrick, with no significance to their release schedule whatsoever :-k

Steve Hills has just announced on Twitter that :
The release date of the @mastersofcinema edition of ISLAND OF LOST SOULS has now been put back to May next year
Disappointing, but I guess they have their reasons.

Maybe they decided to opt for a Dual Format release?

Nick, would you guys consider to reissue Kuroneko in the Dual Format since the Japanese studio is evidently happy for the film to be released on Blu in the West? I'd rather get the MoC instead of the Criterion. (Kwaidan would be fab as well)

Tange Sazen and the Pot Worth a Million Ryo
The Complete Dietrich & von Sternberg Boxset

You forgot The Complete Jean Epstein, Early Gremillon and Naruse Volumes 2-12 box sets though.
(Sent during the break in Nibelungen on Arte tonight)

Maybe Denmark is the country and they'll release a bunch of Dreyer + some Christensen?

I said those were my realistic predix. No way all the others get released until at least April.

As long as they don't release any Suzanne Bier...

Looks like it's Italpan. At least they're linked by being both long and thin and prone to volcanic activity.
Cue swo to conjure up one of his conflated geo-graphics?

Wonder if this bodes well for potential bump up of IL GRIDO & LA NOTTE to dual format?...

Also,

I don't know if this is common knowledge already, but apparently Artificial Eye is working on a release of Imamura's
The Eel.
MoC Twitter wrote:Artificial Eye are planning a release of THE EEL. We've got THE INSECT WOMAN out in Feb 2012.

They've been working on this for the better part of the year. I just wish it'd show up finally as it keeps getting delayed. I've wanted to see this one for awhile now.

MoC's new Twitter background:
Kind of reminds me of
Caché, though I doubt MoC would be releasing that.

A quick question: does MoC even have an official Facebook page? The one I found hasn't been updated since July 2009.
