He was kidding about Criterion of course, but there is a
new Blu-ray of The Last Unicorn with lots of supplements being released on Tuesday.
If the clue tomorrow is indeed a wacky unicorn (though I think of them as mythical more than mystical), then I think Ian's got to be right --
Black Moon.

The Last Unicorn is great. I wouldn't pick up any of the Lionsgate releases though. They edited the film so there are scenes missing. Import it.

The new Blu-ray will be the unedited version.

As much as I would love to see Black Moon released ASAP, shouldn't a Janus run be going on right now, before we get any news from Criterion? Someone on here told me Janus had it. If that is the case, a clue now would mean a release in a 6 month or less period, which means Janus would have to get that out yesterday (yesterday meaning a while ago) for that to be true. We'll see tomorrow.

Janus did a run ages ago. Black Moon is absurdly overdue by now.

I wonder if there's any hope the wacky animal will be a ghost monkey / Uncle Boonmee.

I'm hoping it'll be a blue roc to indicate the Blu-ray of The Rock, just to hear the collective explosion of a million heads at once.

Watch it turn out to be Guilala, heralding The X From Outer Space, just to mess with us.

reissue Robocop.

Altman's wonderful Images? Isn't the MGM disc out of print?

Let's all keep guessing after we know it's Malle's BLACK MOON.

You are all idiots it is blade runner.
Seriously, though, it is always a good day when a Louis Malle Criterion is announced. And I believe it was this particular film that I wanted to see on one of TCM's Malleathons (sorry), when the cable went out.
Frustration over!

It's definitely "Black Moon", but, God, how I wish it weren't. I like Louis Malle, but this film is his worst.

I think we should keep pretending it's not Black Moon. I don't like Louis Malle aside from a few features and I especially hate Black Moon. I saw it on a double bill last May with a beautiful Czech print of Valerie and Her Week of Wonders which did a fantastic job of washing out all the Black Moon nonsense from my system. Maybe it's my aesthetics or maybe I'm just no fun, but the film was an indecipherable mess with one strange moment leading to the next while trying to give off the sense of being a lot more profound than it actually is. Apparently Louis Malle has so many things as symbols in the film where it's to the point of ridiculous and no one but Malle would really understand what it would all mean.
But at least we get some more Joe Dellesandro in the collection.

I suggest we pretend that it is Bitter Moon.

I would much rather see an Elevator to the Gallows BD upgrade.
