HBO: Just donate the money that's going to be used making that largescale preach to the choir to the 2012 Obama re-election campaign.

Seems like GDT is always in the news for what he's either recently scheduled or cancelled. Though he's only done seven films in the past twenty years, to me it feels like his name has been attached to at least 20ish...

This is such an interesting precedent. As much as it makes me fret about the decline of traditional broadcasting and the tangible "ownership" model of home video, it's really kind of cool to see a major production circumvent the networks altogether.

I agree that it's kind of cool, but I doubt that was the show's primary motive for choosing Netflix; more likely, Netflix was willing to guarantee two seasons sight unseen, which would never happen at any channel, network or cable, any more. MJy curiosity is how is Netflix going to deliver the show. Right now, A show premieres at a specific time on a specific channel ... so is Netflix going to upload each episode at a specifc time each week, or what? Last question, will this show be less or more susceptible to pirating?

I'm actually happy to hear this. I've personally had enough of these comic book movies anyways.

They're not going to stop making comic book movies because Darren Aronofsky dropped out of directing this one, you know. No one is forcing you to see them, either.

But DA being behind the camera does somewhat force me to see it.

They took that into consideration,
but decided instead to develop a mini-series about Dick Cheney.

Godard and Manoel de Oliveira will be making films about the Portuguese city of Guimaraes, European Capital of Culture 2012.
"Histórias do Cinema (Histories of the Cinema)

Brunette Amy Adams is more mind-blowing than any juvenile slomo action Snyder has planned

What he said, but damn I wish they got a good drama director instead. Supes does not make for good action movies.

With Viggo circling in as Zod, I may have to watch a Zack Snyder movie.

I'm still hoping Sucker Punch fails enough that Snyder gets pulled.

It's already been established that it sucks, but that's been the consensus on all of his prior films too and it hasn't made a difference. They make money.

I think Cold Bishop meant box-office failure, especially since Sucker Punch had a dismal weekend. I doubt it'll put the kibosh on his directing the Superman film but, between this and the lukewarm reception The Owls of Ga'Hoole and Watchmen got, his money-maker golden boy status is slightly endangered.

I'm certainly no apologist for Snyder but regardless I'm very enthused about seeing Sucker Punch. I've been breathlessly anticipating this one since that first awesome trailer. A friend who caught it already informed me that, not surprisingly, the worst aspect of it was the heavy handed politics Snyder tries to cram in as evidence of his "serious intent". The target audience (not me) will, undoubtedly however, approve.

Not really. I know a few Snyder fans who absolutely hated the film. They were primarily turned off by the sexual politics which they found to be loathsome.

I still haven't seen it, but I assume that this means that 2006's Superman Returns was not a success and now they are revamping the franchise yet again?

But they've been making less and less money. And his relationship with WB is much more strained now than when he was the post-
300 wonderboy. In fact, if Nolan wasn't in charge supervising him (it's him the studio really wants), I'd doubt he'd be attached to Superman at this very moment.

I'm surprised Nolan wants him for the job. Nolan's ultra-controlled (if bombastic) vision of the superhero genre doesn't seem to be within Snyder's range.

Trust me, it was walk-out level awful.
