I get it: I message too much. I'll cool it, but will check back in for the 15th. [I just want any rumors to stop.)

It's not that you message too much...it's that you're postings are in the wrong thread.

A new print of Altman's
Come Back to the Five and Dime via UCLA, preservation funded by The Film Foundation and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, playing at DC's
National Gallery in August. Not sure if this means anything in terms of a future Criterion release, though I figured I'd mention it.

I asked about it on Facebook 2 years back and got something like "That'd be nice." in return.

I consider "5 and Dime" one of Altman's least impressive films, but seeing as Paramount likely has no intention of releasing it any time soon, I'd say go for it, Criterion!

They've just put an article about The Lady Eve on the Criterion site. Possible upgrade?

Just about every title
on this list has been released, or is to be in the CC.
Went the Day Well?,
The Producers, and
It Always Rains on Sunday are three of the very few that haven't. Could this mean anything?

Most of those titles are OOP and, including Went the Day Well, owned by Studio Canal. Its not totally out of the question (we are getting Melville Blus), but I wouldn't count on it.

I see Panique listed, one of Duvivier's finest with Michel Simon in sparkling form. A very different incarnation of M.Hire compared to Michel Blanc in Leconte's version. This would be wonderful scrubbed up and blu'd.

I think we're finally going to get some J-Horror. Either an Eclipse with two or more versions of Yostuya Kaidan (at least both the Kinoshita and Nakagawa verions), or a set of sixties movies (Goke the Bodysnatcher - Sato, The Living Skeleton - Matsuno, The X from Outer Space - Nihonmatsu, The War of the Insects - Nihonmatsu)
With that I think:
The Game
I Married a Witch
Kuroneko
Island of Lost Souls
Kwaidan upgrade/blu
Wild Strawberries blu
Withnail & I blu

I understand that a lot of these guesses come from a variety of "reliable" sources, but have the last few months been stuff that was expected? I feel like there was nothing predicting the Vigo box or anything, and I'm just curious if that stuff is as out of the blue as it seems?

The Vigo box had been on the horizon for a long time. The other titles that have been tossed around are likely bets since many of them are appearing on Hulu.

Cure is up on Criterion's Hulu, isn't it? I would think that if they were going to release any J-Horror, they'd go for that one, since it's both a prominent movie and a prominent director (and if Kalat's not too busy, they could hopefully get him to do a commentary on it- it was one of the movies he really focused on in his J-Horror book.)

True.
However I was thinking of what would fit into an Eclipse set, being that we have been averaging one every other month and are now due...
